*in a timid voice* May I join? I'm a writer myself, well, more of a scribbler, but whatever...

:welcome: to those who have joined!! :)

I wrote a few poems about the seasons- I would really appreciate comments and feedback!! :)

Summer

I lie out in the sun, soaking up its golden warmth.
The light seeps into my soul, filling me to the brim with a liquid light.
The lazy days of summer are here,
and I look up to the sky.
It is as deep and as bright as the sea,
a Caribbean blue that stretches out into infinity.
A diamond-white cloud sails slowly across this bright crystal sea lazily.
I sit up and look at the vibrant world around me,
emerald greens sparkling like gems.
The full trees whisper and ripple in the wind,
conversing softly with each other.
Everything is full of color and life-
clear, vibrant, and full.
The world is glistening with every jewel-
Sapphire lakes and skies,
Emerald and peridot grasses and plants,
The flowers rubies and amethysts,
The clouds diamonds and pearls.
I lie back in the sun once more,
Welcoming its light into my soul again
Wanting these lazy days of summer
to last forevermore.

Autumn
The trees begin turning from green to gold,
And the sun’s warm light begins to fade.
The world commences to sleep,
slowly becoming numb.
Everything is set on fire, and these fiery colors
blaze throughout the earth.
From the ground to the tips of the treetops,
the inferno rages and glows.
Slowly, all life begins to fade
and the trees are stripped of all they wear.
The leaves that were once so full and bursting with life
are now dead and broken, blowing in the breeze.
The sweet, crisp smell of their rotting pieces
lingers and fills the air.
The sky above is grey, almost smoky,
the crystal blue is as a distant dream.
It is like a doomed criminal
Being interjected with that last, deadly poison.
It flows smoothly through the veins of the earth,
a sleeping numbness rippling throughout all life.
The barren world is left:
cold, empty, dead.

Winter

Darkness surrounds everything; the cover of night is here.
I am wrapped in a soft blanket, so warm against my bare skin.
The room is black behind me but for the dying embers of a leftover fire.
The last flames flicker and dance, making my skin glow softly.
I look out the frosted windowpane unto the quiet world.
Everything is asleep,
I feel like the only living thing on the vast earth.
All is blanketed with shimmering, glistening snow.
The clear, bright, liquid moonbeams make the snow glitter and sparkle.
A million feathers are falling from the heavens,
A million stars are touching the ground.
The frigid wind makes the snow swirl and dance, a geisha of old in the night.
All life is sleeping, and peace covers the world.
All is still, all is quiet, all is peaceful.
Not a thing stirs, waiting patiently for the promise of spring.

Spring

The day comes forth, out of night.
It begins with the chill and bitter rains.
The world is awakening from its deep slumber.
Slowly the rains become warmer, and seemingly overnight the trees awaken.
Tiny, fragile buds on branches and limbs plant the small seeds of hope.
Small signs dot the barren earth, feeble and weak.
Slowly, the dead is replaced with a fresh, light green, renewing the old.
The cherry blossoms rain down pink petals as the world transforms-
brighter and brighter as the globe awakens once more.
The animals come forth, the birds sing a new song.
They join in unison to resonate of life and renewal.
The warm spring rains pour down, electrifying and full of rejuvenation.
The flowers burst like stars in the night sky,
the heavens are blue and clear,
the world is green.
A fresh start,
a new beginning.

That's a wonderful poem! Very lovely!

I got inspired in physics class today. Here's the product.

"Good job" the man smiles. A toothy grin peaks out from behind thin, chapped lips. "You have done well." I shudder as I look at my feet. What just happened? I clutch my hands into fists, but warm metal keeps my right hand from closing. I inspect the forien object, pulling it closer, trying to make it out in the dim light. I gasp as the object comes into focus. It is a knife, still dripping with blood. I want to scream, but I can't. The room suddenly lights up. As my eyes adjust, I have to swollow my horror. A body lies in the middle of a concrete room, its blood still spilling from multiple wounds. Knife wounds. I hear a whispery laugh, and see the man, the one with the toothy grin. Again he smiles. In the light I see his sallow skin sagging over a wire thin frame, like a rotted orange. "What happened?" I want to ask, but no wordds come out. The man only smiles wider as he lounges against the cold concrete wall. His smile becomes a sneer as I hear the door behind me splinter. The man slowly backs into a corner, but his gaze and sneer never leave my face. I spin around as the door breaks completely. Thick burly men with guns and plexiglass shields barge into the room. "She did it!" I hear a sudden cry. The sneering man is now curned on the floor, tucked into a corner, and fear is in his eyes. "She did it!" He accused again. "Help me!" his voice is shrill. I gasp in horror as I see I still grasp the knife. I drop it, but feel a prick in my neck. My knees suddenly weaken, and I collapse to the ground. I feel myself thrown over a shoulder and carried out of the room. Before unconciousness takes me completely, I manage to glance at the man in the corner. He's no longer scared and hiding. His face is sneering again, a sneer that burns into my eyes. He waves goodbye, and I can see his chest rising and falling in silent laughter.

This was all, nothing more.

Thanks. :)

I like yours as well... it's haunting, in a good way. The kind of thing that gives you a chill. It was well written though, and you could probably expand on it a lot. :P

I have always found it funny how occasionally during class you're just sitting there and something just completely hits you. :P

I love when that happens. This one line just pops into your head, you write it down, and suddenly words start spilling onto your paper and you can't help it. I just love that feeling!

Okay, so I'm curious: is anyone else here a detail-freak? Like, you have to have every little detail just right and obsess over it until you're sure it's fine? I'm really bad about freaking out over canonicity in my fanfics; I've been known to spend hours researching just one thing to make sure I got my terminology right. Does anyone else tend to do a whole bunch of research before writing?
(The reason I ask is I just spent forever researching a planet that is mentioned one time in the entire Star Wars universe, just to make sure I didn't miss anything).

Me too. I'm realy bad about making sure my sentences are perfect and I read through dialogue especially over and over again.

Oh my gosh! Someone finally understands my obsessive attention to detail! My mom thinks I'm crazy, but I'm not. Just I like things to be right!
