History: Not much to talk about. He came over to America, joined the military and became a scientist for them.

It was a funny thing, how the force called Mother Nature always ended up sneaking up on you. Just when you thought something was gone for all eternity, it returns in vengeance tenfold.

Take, for example, the Australian thylacine. Better known as the tasmanian wolf. Scientists could have sworn it'd been extinct for over fifty years. And yet...

Which was exactly how Nicholas Wolfe and his motley gang ended up desperately hauling their butts through the jungle, an angry pack of nearly two score tasmanian wolves hot in pursuit. And not just your average tasmanian wolf. These striped predators were six feet long from snarling head to tapering tail. Huge, starving, and furious as hell.

The team of commandos and scientists from various nations had landed on the wretched island that very morning, courtesy of an American supertanker bound for India. They'd spent the morning on the beach performing chemical tests and scouting the general terrain - all under supervision of Apache helicopters circling overhead like gigantic black birds of prey. Early afternoon, they'd entered the jungle.

And their radio communication had vanished. Just like that. No incoming signals. Not a clue if their outgoing signals had even reached the Apaches.

Wolfe glanced back at his team members, then at the furiously pursuing thylacine pack. "Not far now!" he shouted. "I've got some RPGs stashed in the Humvees! If those won't scare the guys off, I don't know what will!"

Aiden stumbled but regained his balance. His breath was coming in gasps now, but he had to keep up. Better to be winded than eaten He thought to himself. He saw the jeeps ahead, but the wolves were quick. They may not make it. Aiden put on a burst of speed as he raced for the jeep. "Catch me if you can, bloody wolves!" He shouted.

Erin sprinted past him, in peak physical condition (as always), with a glance over her shoulder. She very sensibly did not waste breath talking or shouting back at the wolves, until they neared the Humvees and she yelled, "Better get those fast, Nicholas! They're catching up!"

Adam ran along with the others, trying to catch up in his mind with what was going on.
He had agreed to go on this mission, thinking it would be a semi-normal, somewhat boring look around the island. He would take some samples, come up with some reports, and give them to the head of the mission, who would then say the island was clear, and they would leave.
Off hand, he couldn't think of a time he had ever been more wrong. He looked ahead of them, hoping to catch some glimpse of the Humvees.

Wolfe let Fox-man, Sparrow, and Hawk race past him first. Then he whipped out dual Desert Eagle pistols and fired off a round on each. The high-caliber bullets stopped two thylacines in their tracks. The tasmanian wolves halted for a brief second, staring at the blood blossuming on their flanks. With a communal growl, they shook the wounds off and ran on.

Wolfe's eyes widened to the size of saucers. Wounds such as those would have long ago felled a grown man.

"Better use those RPGs!" yelled Erin from up ahead. "That's not gonna stop 'em!" Her handgun was still in its holster - she was not experienced with weapons and if Wolfe's had not stopped the wolves, hers certainly wouldn't.

Shade leaned against a old moss tree to caught her breathe. Her black hair was in front of her eyes, falling out of her braid as she thought, Already almost killed our first day. Figures. She knew she had a disadvantage among the entire group for she was younger than everyone else and much less experienced. She just hoped that she could prove herself because already she saw glances and heard mumbles of complains from group members. It was to be expected, but she'd hoped that they would learn to except her soon.

She saw the wolves where barely shaken and she took out her pistol and loaded it, even though she figured it would do no damage, a weapon is better than none at all. "I have never seen such beast in all my travels." She said as she waited for there next move.

"Me neither, but I think the best place to watch them would be from the jeeps." Adam said as he sprinted past the younger woman. The humvees were finally getting closer, but so were the wolves.

"I don't think jeeps will give us much protection from them." She took a step back and asked, "I don't suppose a dagger would be any use, would it?"

"Correction!" yelled Erin, catching Shade's sleeve as she barreled along. "Jeeps move faster than us, and faster than wolves!"

"Well, then we best get moving then!" Shade said as the wolves crept closer.

"That would be what I was doing," said Erin in a voice of deceptive calm, shoving Shade ahead of her. "Get moving, already!"

She sprinted past, her hair rapidly undoing itself, and caught the handle of one of the jeeps. Luckily it was hers and she always left it unlocked. Groping in a pocket of her cargo pants for her keys, she jammed one that felt right into the ignition and started it up. "Shade, hurry!"

Shade, having ran track for 3 years in middle-school and her freshman year, sprinted as fast as she could to the jeep and leaped over the back end and then turned to prepare shooting if nessicerry.

Anna Marie shot at the wolves, before sprinting ahead. Her dark eyes spotted her jeep, and she had the keys attached to her wristchain. Quickly unlocking her door, she opened it, and jumped in, before shooting at a few wolves again. Reaching for one of her rifles with her left hand, she put her key in the ignition. Slamming the door shut. she aimed her rifle at a wolf that got too close to her jeep, and fired.

Shade layied down and then, making sure her pistol was ready, took aim and fired. She hit one wolf in the chest, causing him to pause for a moment and then he contiuned to come at them. "Drat." She muttered.
