Yeah... I can see how things would be a bit hard to get going in that situation. i will pray that God will work in your youth group Arwen! :) I know He can make it better!

And same here pip that poem is really awsome. :)

NOW....
lol

I don't want to bring up old subjects or cause any problems here but we recently watched a movie about haloween and learned a lot more about it.

Personally I feel very strongly like I should let you guys know the information. As always it is yours to do with what you will.

First off Haloween is at least 4000 years old. It was started by a group called the Celts. The Druids, (priests of Satan basically) started worshiping the "god" of the dead, the grim reaper, and various other god"" as they were called. They practiced withcraft and that stuff. Haloween, (Samhay I think it is pronounced) was THE highest and most "holly" day to the witches and wizards. (Druids)

The Druids started telling the people of the land that they neede to leave "treats" out on there door step to apeas the wicked spirits that "Roamed the earth" on Haloween. So as a rituall the druids would dress up in gosht like or demon like costums for haloween and the people would place vegitables for the evil spirits.

Pretty soon the Druids said the spirits were growing more wicked so to keep them happy the people had to start sacrificing animals.

Then it got to where they had to provide a virgin child as a sacrife for the spirits.

If they did not give the sacrifice "treat" the Druids would paint a circle with a star in it (I believe) on there door in blood. And then they would kill their whole family. Thus "Trick" or "treat" If they failed to provide the "treat" they would do a "trick"

Also all over the world practicing witches and wizards prepair for haloween by casting all sorts of spells because suposedly the goddess Diana sleeps during haloween and the witches and wizards can contact the dead easier on that day.

The ghosts for haloween and dressing up came from the druids because they would dress up and suposedly wicked spirits would roam the land during that time. And when the family would not give the sacrifice "treat" And the druids would paint the emblem out of blood on there door they would put infront of the peoples house a squash or pumpkin with a evilish face carved in it. And inside it would be coals so the face would seem to glow.

The black cats, so closely associated with haloween often... it was said that the spirits could inhabit a black cat and the witches would all want one because they thought they could communicate with the spirits that way.

The bats and stuff are all dark and emblems of darkness and death. Because haloween was just that, a celibration of darkness and death.

The skeletons were suposedly emblems of power. Witches believed, and still do believe that the bones of humans give them power. And in an effort to gain this power witches often keep human bones or go lay on graves to "absorb" the power.

And the witches that you see around on haloween with the pointed hats... the pointed hat is called I think the crome of power or something. (I forget egsactially) But basically it is a high status witch if memory serves.

And the brooms that they "ride" on are dirived from actuall witch practices in a fertility ritual.

Even the secular newspapers will tell you on haloween day there is the highest year round of animals found gutted disected or such. Sacrificed in satanic rituals. And there is a significent increas in murder as well on haloween because the higher witches can't just sacrifice animals they have to sacrifice human lives.

Often times the witches used to burn the people alive and that is where they got the word bonfire... it actually means Bone Fire. Because they would burn people in them. Witches anticipate and prepair for haloween in these and many other ways all over the world still today. It is a day of the devil where his people worship him. And by tricertreating and having anything to do with it you are partacing in this ritual that is over 4,000 years old.

Like I said before it's your choice what to do with this information. There is much more than what I have listed here and I know it is acurat because the lady who did the thing used to be a practicing witch before becoming a christian. But I will say this, I personally, can not understand how anyone who is a true christian to think it is alright to participate in things such as this.

Thanks!! :)

Hmmmm. Very interesting- thanks, Jax. I do see exactly where all of this is from, and of course strongly object to it all. As I said, this was a lot of the reason that I stopped really participating in Halloween. However, I must say that I think it is perfectly innocent for little kids to dress up and go door-to-door for candy. They love it- I also loved it when I was younger- and have nothing bad in mind. I think it's safe to look at Halloween as having two aspects- one for the sorts of things that you talked about, and need to steer clear of- and another, more innocent side, with completely different traditions that are just about having a good time and being neighborly to other people. I do see completely see where you're coming from, respect it, and want to stay completely away from anything having to do with the bad side of it. I do agree with what Pip said though- God knows what intentions we have, and if it all is in good, innocent fun (especially for little kids) then it's a different story. *shrug*

good luck with taht, Arwen! (ur youth leader...)
& I luv that poem also! It's my fav saying, so that's y i put it in there....i collect things w/ that saying on it, so yha. lol :-P

& as far as the Halloween thing goes....

I agree with wut Arwen said....although I do totally understand wut ur saying, Jax. For me, it's just that that's not the reason I celebrate it....& when I say celebrate, I mean I dress up as a pirate or a dead cheerleader or sumthing dumb like that, & hand out candy to little kids who are all pumped b/c they get tons of candy.....I don't celebrate it b/c of satan & all that stuff....like i said b4, God knows that, & it's good enough 4 me.....but i do appreciate u sharing that w/ me....its' very interesting....i nvr knew that....I always wondered how Halloween got started. lol :-P

Well like I said it's your choice to do with what you please with this information.

But in closing I owuld like to say one thing to your reply.

It's not innocent. Because even the get away driver, thought he didn't rob th bank is still a "Bank Rober" If you do the motions you act the talk. There is nothing cute or innocent about it I can promis you that. The devil uses these things to get a hold in our lives. And I would hate to have to explain to God on judgement day why I participated (even if it was unintetional or if I didn't have bad intentions) in the Day of the devil. I just urge you to pray hard about it and see what God wants you to do.
But I will respect your views. I understand very few people think like I do. lol

And you will be in my prayers Arwen. :)

Lol. :) I love Thanksgiving too. As for me, I'm not a picky eater at all- I'll eat just about anything (that's not meat). I'm a vegetarian if I haven't mentioned that before. :P But besides that, I'll seriously eat anything that's given to me. :P
