Lee smiled as she caught the vine. "Your okay. I wanted to make sure you didn't leave me mentally. Anyway, your dance was quiet interesting." She grinned and then, with a deep breath and a gulp in her throat she swumg on the vine to go across. Everything was going smoothly until two sounds changed everything.

"Willa will ooh ah!" Swosh!

Lee looked up to see a native looking down at them and then heard the whizzing sound of a spear coming towards her. She then smiled as it missed her but then shrieked as she felt the vine give way. She looked up and saw the spear had gone straight threw the vine when she was only halfway across. And the next moment she was falling into the depths below them.

But then, as she was about to fall away from the ledges and into the darkness below them, Lee's foot got caught in a vine on the bottom of the ledge that Robert was standing on. "Owwwww!" She screamed as her ankle snapped as the pressure came on her ankel as she hung upside down in almost midair. "Robert!" She called as more spears came down at her, barely missing. She couldn't move, for is she did, she would fall into the darkness below. One spear slashed against her right shoulder, causing a deep gash to form on her shoulder. She saw blood come dripping down her shoudler onto her neck as another scream came from another direction and the natives that where attacking them left, running away. Lee started to get dizzy as the blood started to drip down her face from her shoulder and her ankel started to turn blue.

The natives' rather abrupt arrival took Robert completely by surprise. Out quick reflexes, he ducked. The arrow thudded into his shoulder, its sheer velocity nearly knocking him off the ledge. He clutched his shoulder.

Shoulder was better than heart, at least.

"Lee!" he called, leaning over the ledge and making a desperate grab. His hand wrapped around her broken ankle. He heard another savage cry and whipped his attention back up.

There stood the natives, on the cliff opposite them. Robert realized, with a sinking sensation, that they'd just left to get a better vantage point.

"Ye'll find another way out," Gibbs retorted. With his unique and quite creative hook technique, he was almost out of the pit.

Lee looked up, her shoulder and ankle throbbing. "Hide, Robert!" She whispered. "I'll pretend I'm dead so they won't shoot me and you hide yourself. I don't want you getting killed in acount of me."

Gibbs meticulously climbed out of the pit and was just about to grab a vine to help Bootstrap out when Jack's statement stopped him dead.

"There comes a time where one has to sacrifice his life for a Captain..."

"Ye cold, heartless - !" he exclaimed, tackling his captain for the second time.

"Hah, in your dreams," Robert retorted quite gibly. He winced as he tightened his grip around Lee's ankle and pulled.

A dozen arrows came whizzing his way.

Progress stymied, he inevitably released Lee and dove underneath an overhang in the cliffside that shielded him somewhat from the barrage. An arrow grazed his hip.

"Whoa!" Lee yelled as she fell and then was jurked to a stop once again. Then, the vine broke halfway and she was hanging more now. Her ankle snapped again in a different place and she winced, but didn't scream. The native where coming closer, with more weapons. "Get down, Robert!"

He traded punch for punch, kick for kick. Jack's fist somehow found his stomach, and Gibbs staggered back, the wind knocked out of him.

Only then did he notice he was back at the bottom of the pit.

Which, of course, further incensed him. "Ye cowardly scoundrel!" he howled, charging his captain once again.

Robert heard the vine snap, and he winced at the thought of Lee dangling even more precariously over a thousand foot drop. As the natives crossed the wooden bridge javelins raised, his hand closed over a dirk. His other hand closed over a pistol.

Hurry Robert. Lee prayed as the vine continued to snap slowly...only a few minutes and she would be falling.

"Stop!" Robert shouted, coming out into the open. He leveled his shaking pistol at the natives crossing the bridge.

Sneering, the natives raised their javelins.

A gunshot shattered the silence, followed by the whiz of a bullet shooting over their heads. He had intentionally missed, hoping the natives would get the message. They muttered among themselves and began backing away.

Robert wasted no time. He tore another vine off the cliff face and ran to the edge. "Lee! Catch the vine!"
