I cannot wait to see this movie! Plot summary: An odyssey about one man's thousand-year struggle to save the woman he loves. As a 16th century Conquistador, a modern-day scientist, and a 26th century astronaut, he searches for the secret of eternal life.

Well, I watched the trailer, and it looked good, but confusing That's probably since it's so late though and I'm about to fall asleep...

I really want to see that movie, too. It looks very interesting and I like the plot. Plus Rachel Weisz looks really pretty in it and Hugh Jackman looks awesome.

I don't care much for the bald look Hugh will be sporting during the 26th century part of the film but he'll have a wonderful ruggedly handsome scruffy look during the 16th or 21st century of the film

Thanks for your little explanation in your first post tim4x. Without it I doubt I would have ever understood the plot of The Fountain. I went and saw it a couple of weeks ago and only now found this thread. The special effects were nicely done, the plot as confusing as anything I've ever seen, and the ending left me feeling completely empty. Not the best movie I've ever seen.

I want to see it JUST for Rachel Weisz because I adore her!
And to have the leading man be Hugh Jackman.
Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz! [squee]

Argh, that doesn't sound good. I'm not seeing it until it comes out on DVD, as there aren't any theaters here that have it.

DOUBLE POST.
Oh my god. I cannot put my opinion of this film into coherent sentences. It was just stunning. AMAZING.
Hugh: Probably his best performance. I especially loved his scenes in the bubble talking to the tree.
Rachael: WOW. *Searches for words. Fails* WOW. She had this... quiet intensity that was great.
Special effects/cinematography: Without a doubt the most beautiful film I have ever scene. The light/dark contrast was wonderful, and the yellows and oranges that were used throughout were gorgeous. The space bubble and the nebula... I LOVED how organic it was. Soft yet slightly foreboding. The scene after he drinks the sap was amazingly real.
Wow. I'll have more when I've actually been able to process this amazing piece of cinema.

Oh I agree. At the end of the movie, I was lost with words. It was absolutely brilliant.

Interesting. I saw it with my friend when it came out in theatres. She was dying to see it and the trailer made it look like it would be good but we left the theatre painfully disappointed .

^^^You should have seen me try to explain it to my mother on the way to see Fantastic 4.
^^While I can't agree with you, I understand why a lot of bad reviews were written. I'd mostly blame the number of times it switches between the different eras.
^We had to force a friend to lend us her copy, as we couldn't find it anywhere else either. *Hits the video store*
