I read it several years ago for school and I saw the tv movie that also came out several years ago. Though some parts are a little slow, I think its important for everyone to read it.

I've had to read it twice the first time on my own, the second for school. I think I was too young when I read it first, because finding out what happened to her gave me nightmares.

No I haven't read it. Heard of it, of course. And I agree with Bellethiel, if everyone can they should read it. I know it's contents and it's important that people know what happened so (sadly) a first hand witness.

Yeah, timx4, I can imagine it gave you nightmares.

Well, I had to read The Diary fo Anne Frank for school. No doubt what happened to this girl (who was about our age) is terrible, and a good lesson for everyone, but...the book reads like a girl's diary, and says more about psychology than the Holocaust. I was glad I read it, but some of the guys in my class weren't.
The diary still teaches important lessons and will leave a lingering impression on you. I would also suggest reading Night by Elie Weisel (sp?), an incredibly disturbing yet moving story of the time a boy spent in a Nazi concentration camp. It is like an epilogue to Anne Frank. That one really did give me nightmares.

Night looks very good. I only got to read the intro before my mother gave to a friend who lost it.

I was in fourth grade... Around the same time I had a series of dreams about the Planters peanut guy.

anne's diary is an extraordinary testament to her strength and bravery, and i agree that it's important as a first-hand account, but i always found her intensely annoying. i don't know why, but she really really irritated me right from the beginning.

I have read it. I am not glad that I have read her diary because you know it was not just her but all of Jewishes and the people who tried to protect them suffered from Hitler. I wish I had not read it all. But you know it was for the school :)

The Diary of Anne Frank is truly an amazing book. I found comfort in her words while i was reading it. I was in about 5th grade i think, and it was the first i had heard about the Holocaust. I asked my mom about it and she told me. I was really interested in the holocaust for about two years following that, and i saw the mini series on abc. That was a tear jerker.

Watch the tv movie, if you can find it anywhere. Ben Kingsley plays her dad in the movie. Its really excellent but the second half, which is what happened after the diary, in the concentration camp, is a little disturbing and very sad.

Yeah, we watched the movie in English and finished it in History. I thought the movie was really good.

I've read the book at least 4 times... awesome thing. very well-written for a girl hiding at such a young age. I respect her. :)

I read it several years ago, and I can't remember much about my impressions of it. Or rather, I know I'd have a different opinion if I read it again now.

I definately think it was worth reading.
