Cool! I love making up names. Like right now I'm righting a story about a fifteen year old girl who's starting college, and her name is Quincia Jacobs.

Magus is an excellent name... I believe that's singular for Magi.

Naming characters is actually the one thing that I have the most difficulty with. I normally end up liking the names I come up with, but it takes forever to do so. Star Wars names especially are difficult to come up with, and I've had to do tons of those lately since every single one of the characters in my fanfic is an original character. So far I have Valinn Sasken, Vyren Sasken (Valinn and Vyren are the two main characters), Ailyn Viet, Svari Sasken, Gaevin Sasken, Regarn Ledaren, and Juri Gopek, and I still have more to come up with. I'm just hoping the finished product is worth all the effort I'm putting into this.

I think you did a good job of naming your characters. I especially like the name Ailyn, it's sort of like my middle name (which I absolutely love)

One thing I try not to do is use names I love - It makes me not like the name anymore because I saw it so many times that it gets old and I dislike it. Or I ruin the character somehow and it ruins the name.

I have trouble coming up with diverse names. My names usually end up having something in common, such as the fact that many of them end with an "n" and many others start with a "[consonant]e"

names are my down fall. I have so many problems naming, but I always pick good ones, or at least I think I do.
in the stories I'm writing right now I have: a Espyn Marie, a Cole Marcus (nickname Colby), A Hailey Aidan, a Zoey Kaitlen, a Shayne Thomas, a Syndi Louise, Anderson James, and finally twins named McKenzie and McKile. o.0
nothing TO out there I think.

I usually have a hard time coming up with names. Occasionally I'll think of one right off the top of my head and stick with it, but usually I have to look around, think about it, etc.
Some of the names I've used/am using for stories:
Brendan, Seanna, Ciara, Connor, and Devin Sullivan, Quinn Driscoll, Brody McCoullagh, Carl Henderson, Kristy, Lyssa, and Eryn.

I NEVER have trouble of thinking up names! If all else fails, just mesh a bunch of constanents and vowels together and end it with a "y".

I actually went through 3 name books making a list of my favorite names and their meanings and now whenever I need a name I just search through my list until I find one. My characters rarely have last names, though.
The Characters in my main story now:
Donovan, Phelan, Dawn, Ness, The Wanderer (Ahearn), Caderyn, Weylin, and Theron.

Colton is one of my favorite names of all time! but i always seem to pair the name with a seven year old blonde haired boy who's the funniest kid on the planet. just like my Colton.
my Colton is this little kid i work with at the school library, (we're both aids.), and he's totally awesome!

Colton is a cute name. I usually go around to all my friends and have them write down their favorite names:girl or boy. I'm not really good at thinking of names on my own. I always get suggestions.

At the moment I writing a story (science fiction) with for main characters in it.
Ramon Garce'th
Sagacity (Sage) Athen
Mark Clifton
Kendra Threshsong
I'm especially fond of the name "Sagacity". Don't know why. It just has a nice ring to it.
I got a new story idea last night... and would like some crit. on it, 'kay? It will be a children's story, problem be given as a Christmas or Hannukah gift to one of my neices or nephews, and will be fantasy-based. Here we go.
A small girl (named Cassia) who lives in a very strict and restricted community is basically sick and tired of her boring life, which mostly contains little more than working in a garden, going to a country school, and helping her parents. The only books she is ever allowed to read are VERY boring and stuffy, wordy, and decrepit mathmatic manuals, and she basically has a bad opinion of books in general.
That is, until her older brother comes home from college, and brings her as a present, a book of fairy tales. He has to give it to her in secret, knowing well that should their parents find out, both would be in trouble. Well, dun dun ddaaah, the girl loves the book, of course, but her parents find out, and it throws the whole town into chaos, because they're a very religious, strict, and dogmatic community highly opposed to anything "fantasy".
So, the book is burned, the girl is branded rebellious and not allowed to go out much anymore, and work in the garden most of her free time. And then one day, while slaving over the cabbages, she finds a very small, small and interesting rock... that shines and glimmers like gold. And glows bright light in the dark. She keeps it, and thats how her adventures began. She is kidnapped in the dead of the night by a gnome, who brings her to a underground world, where ALL the fantasy creatures ever concieved live together! Scottish brownies and fairies, Norse dwarves and giants, Chines dragons, English elves, Indian beasts. Basically every fantasy being ever conceived by mortal man.
She discovers that, around the turn of the 17th century, these beings grew sick and tired of humans "not believing in such things anymore", and felt offended that they weren't "Believed in." So one by one they vanished underground to a secret world, led by an Goblin King with fantastic magical powers.
Of course, the plot thickens, and Cassia meets a mysterious elf who stands apart from the others, shunned by all, and discovers his story. He was a "Super hero" in a sense, among the mortals of Planet Earth. His life was spent on caring and looking after mankind, and when he was torn away from that (and from his mortal love, a human girl) he lost all love for life, and would have committed suicide. She sets out to hepl him love life again. She also encounters a bewitching mermaid, who has skills as an entrantress, and is slightly evil.
Yada yada... so the point is to have a lot of cool plot twists, etc, (find out that Cassia *knows* the elve's mortal love), and end up having the creatures and beings. come back above to earth, and restore their contact with mortal men.
So?
