Gandalf looked down at Frodo and smiled and then sighed, muttered, "This council acts as if we have all the time in the world. Someone needs to volunteer now or the whole fate of Middle-Earth could be in great peril." He spoke so softly that only Frodo could hear.

Gimli stirred in his seat, glancing around the quiet circle of faces. He watched those smug elves for a moment, then grunted. "Well, I can think of <i>some</i> that shouldn't be taking it." he said, loud enough for pretty much everyone to hear. He was still looking pointedly at the elves. Some of the dwarves sitting next to him grumbled their agreement.
"Some have a history of stealing things." Another dwarf chimed in. Some of the elves starting giving the dwarves rather dirty looks.

Aragorn glanced at Elrond. He could feel what was coming next. The Elves mumbled angrily and the dwarfes seemed to be satisfied. To Aragorn it seemed like a shadow falling, darkening the spirit of the council and far away, he thought to hear a soft whisper, in a strange tongue.

First Legolas wanted to get up and react very angry at the words of the Dwarf but than he remembered his position in this Council, and he realised that a son of Thranduil should react calm and wise at those words, how unfair they might be. He saw the Elves next to him whisper and move, also wanting to say anything, but holding back their emotions.
Suddenly he got an awful feeling, and than he heard words in a strange language, one he wanted never to hear..

Gimli, however, was oblivious to the muttered words as he stood. "Never trust an elf!" he said loudly. Several of the elves also stood, protesting.

Frodo winced with pain, as the words rang more and more loudly in his ear. Everything was a turmoil of confusion, and in his mind he knew no peace. He kpet his eyes away from everyone else, he was fighting his own battle.

Boromir sat in his chair, the words of the wizards still in his ears. However, he secretly looked at the ring in amazement, but listening to the council, how they would decide.

Elrond stood abruptly, "Silence!" He said but no one listened. Elves stood now as did drawves and they contiuned to argue loudly. He put his hand on his brow and rub his forehead tiredly. Old hatreds did not peace so easily as he hoped.

Frodo listened to the squabble ensuing about him. His eyes came open. He looked about, rather painfully, but he had made his desicion.

"I will take the Ring." he said, looking about him. In the arguing, no one heard him.

He stood up, and spoke louder. "I will take the Ring, I will take it to Mordor." He spoke with determination, looking about undauntedly at all the others, so much bigger and stronger than he. His voice lowered a little, with his eyes, and he continued...

"...although I do not know the way."

Elrond looked at the little hobbit as did the rest of the council. He smiled at the young hobbit and then looked up as the old wizard spoke,

"I will help you bear this burden, Frodo Baggins, as long as it is yours to bear."

Legolas fell in complete silence, something happened he had never expected. The little Hobbit called Frodo was offering to take the Ring with him to Mordor.. He was suprised by the courage of the little man, and he was thinking of some way to help him with his journey.

Boromir got up his seating place moving toward Frodo. "You are carrying the fate of us all. Of course as a member of council and a representative of Gondor, I will come with you. Frodo Baggins, the ring bearer" he finalised his words and looked at the others with a smile on his face. He thought this should be a piece of cake.

Aragorn got up, knowing this would be the right thing if the Halfling, Frodo, would take the Ring. "If by my life or death I can protect you, I will.." He walked over to Frodo and kneeled. "You'll have my sword."
