"Say something?" Kendath said casually, striding into view with Demon prowling behind him. His cold gaze took a cursory survey of the scene before him. His eyes flickered in amusement as they alighted on Merrin. Glittering falchion in hand, he advanced.

"Renegade... Merrin... come with us." He shot a pointed glance at Evlyn. "There are a few things we need to... discuss."

Evlyn almost sighed with relif as he arrived, she caught his glance and almost dismissed it in the heat of the moment, but she had worked with Ken for a long time and thought better of it. She stepped backwards towards him. "Well, talk..or die..which is it to be" she asked in a leval tone.

Merrin glanced between them, looknig slightly confused. She had rather expected worse than she was getting. "Discuss...what?" she asked uncertainly, with a wary glance at Evlyn.

"Not here," Kendath said dismissively, spinning around and starting back down the corridor. "And summon your dragon. His opinion may be needed."

He led them inside a small tapestried chamber with a table and a few damask cushions. "I believe we may have located the Cloud Crystal," he began slowly, glancing obliquely at Evlyn.

Poor Merrin still looked horribly confused. "Summon...my dragon?" she repeated belatedly, following them, and then seemed to register the news of the Cloud Crystal. "Isn't that...don't you need it to...?"

"I was speaking to Evlyn," Kendath amended, thinking the last thing he wanted right now was the meddling interference of Merrin's silver wyrm. He paused, contemplating how much he should reveal. "There is a need to undertake a... journey."

"With you?" was Merrin's prompt reply. She folded her arms and sat down, not looking too ready to cooperate. "Thanks, I've had all I want of those."

Privately, he thought to Evlyn, "We need Merrin to procure the Cloud Crystal."

That is the precise reason we won't tell her what she's walking into, Demon replied with a complacent growl. The Cloud Crysal is guarded. According to the ancient texts, one pure of heart and soul is needed to defeat the guardian.

Kendath nodded and spoke to Merrin in an unusually gentle tone, "We're headed for the Mountains of Oblivion in search of another curious artifact. And why not? We have no reason to harm you unless you give us one."
