Alex was about to answer, when his voice was cut off by a sudden jerk. The pterodactyl banked downwards, towards the bleak cliff face below. The roaring wind tore away his yell as the jagged rocks rushed up to meet them.

As Alex and Mark dashed toward the sharp rocks below, Mark removed his hands from his eyes and gasped in a gallon of air into his small lungs. His blue eyes fixed themselves straight ahead and looked as if he would go into shock.

Then Alex saw it - a large nest ensconced on the cliff face. And writhing within the nest... no less than three baby pterodactyls.

"Aww! No! No!" Mark shrieked as he saw them approaching the nest. He tried to tuck his small legs and feet up toward his chest, in order to escape their mouths and sharp beaks.

The mother pterodactyl mercilessly dropped them both into the nest. They were immediately set upon by miniature snapping beaks and clawing talons.
What to do, what to do... God help me... Alex shielded Mark as best as he could while he scrambled desperately for the edge of the nest.

Mark scrambled and hid underneath Alex's much larger frame. "Awwww! Help! Alex! Awwww! Help!" he screamed as the little....or actually the large baby pterodactyls snapped at his small body.

Alex rolled over as the baby pterodactyls scrambled for them. That was when he remembered a most curious something he had in his pocket. His hand reached into his jacket and snatched out...
A flashlight, which he promptly switched to full power.
The strong light beam channeled into the pterodactyls' eyes, effectively blinding them.

Mark's screaming stopped as he saw that the pterodactyls' could not see. Leaning back up against the nest on his bottom, he looked toward Alex, then the pterodactyls', and then back to Alex.
He stood up and was about to scramble out of the nest as he threw one leg over, but a 20 foot drop was below him. "Alex! We can't get out! We'll fall! What do we do? What do we do??"
