Every time I see one of those nnnnnnaaaaaaaaassssssssssttttttttttyyyyyyyy people, I PM Kitoky or Arwen to let them know about it. They will always take care of it.

I recently found one that was VERY innapropriate - I think they're getting worse by the second and I let a mod know whenver I see one. :-D

Just to let you know, it's probably better to PM someone besides me; I don't get on a lot :erm: Thanks for helping out, though!

I'm sure everyone has noticed that most of the spamming threads has shown up in the Non-LOTR RPG section --- I wonder why.... >.>

^I was going to ask the same thing. Today I saw at least three different spam threads posted in the Non-LotR RPG forum within a few hours. :disgust: I assume, there is the same spam filter on the whole forum...

EDIT: By the way, I've also noticed a lot of spam on the tagboard recently.
If they post spam in the mornings at CET (Central European Time), which I believe is late night/early morning A-U time, the adds get to stay there for quite a long time because the tag isn't so active at that time. And especially when Arwen and the staff take such great effort in keeping it a family-friendly forum, it really is a shame if the first thing people see on the main site is adult adds. Not to mention when the adds pop up while people are tagging... I've noticed there also is a rather youngish crowd there....

I know there is probably not much to be done about it, because the site is maintained on a voluntary basis... Spam filters or firewalls wouldn't work on a tag, right? And with the lack of active European mods to keep watch while the Americans are sleeping... *sniffleMiremielwhereareyou*

I usually check the tagboard early am in my timezone, and go back a few pages even to delete those spammers, but I admit not getting their every morning before work, it's just too hectic....but other mods who're assigned the tagboard on the rotation schedule are checking it too, so it is better, we're catching more of them. But yes, the spammers are insane....I wish people would stick to legitimate ways of advertising.

I am almost never online in the mornings, so I really could keep checking it since usually I have school and on the weekends my little butt is sleeping in. =/

I was wondering if there was anyway of not allowing people to join, if they immediately put a web address in their profile? Because these people, always have an address but never post, so maybe if you have been on the forum say..a week, then it could be disabled to allow "real" members to add what they want to their profile.

I don't know if this can be done, but I think there needs to be a way to stop these spammers from joining, rather then the Mods having to continually delete their accounts.

It is quite annoying to see a forum is spammed by a spammer :annoyed:
lol I see Anduril is on duty everytime she sees a forum spammed. ;)

That's true, JF, --- sounds like a good idea. Maybe the Webmissy could do something like that.

On the other forums which I am currently a member of, there is a button which is called "Report to Moderators". When you see an inapropriate message you just click on it and write down why that message reported and send ok. And it is gone. By tomorrow, this forum is locked and the member is banned. Simple as that

Thank you tin. I know you check the tagboard. Your visits there are always a pleasure *smiles and bows*

We're discussing making a thing where new accounts have to be approved by a mod before being activated. I know, it's a whole other step, but if it can help stop this... :duh:
