Merrin was keeping a wary eye on Evlyn and her dragon, whom she had no doubt would drop her off a dragon at a thousand feet without a second thought, but she paid close attention to Kendath as well. After hesitating, she said uncertainly, "But you still haven't explained why I have to come along."

"What in the gods else are we to do with you?" snapped Demon, intimidating her with his flaming vermilion eyes.

"Let me go back to my - my dragon!" snapped Merrin. For a second the defient mask slipped and her anguish at being parted from him was apparent - but only for a second. "By all the gods - if you've nothing else to do with me let me go home!"

"And allow you to spill all our secrets?" sneered Demon. "I think not, pathetic human."

But however much Kendath loathed his weakness, he took note of her anguish, and his impassive mask slipped just a bit. What dragonrider didn't know the pain of separation? "I swear to you that you will be freed..." His face hardened. "...after you serve your purpose."

With that, he beckoned to Demon and turned to leave. "I shall go gather my possessions. I suggest we leave immediately."

"Pathetic, yourself!" snapped Merrin (rather unwisely), giving Demon a look that amounted to, if not pure loathing, then great dislike. She closed her eyes and put a hand to her aching head, swallowing her homesickness and particularly her sorrow at being seperated from Wyvern. Be strong, Merrin...don't let them see! she thought, and got to her feet. "Fine. I'll hold you to that."

Alone in their private chambers, Demon soundly berated his rider. "Foolish, sentimental human."

Kendath shrugged and tossed a clean black tunic into his sack. "Human... I would never have guessed."

"Part with those emotions! How will mercy help in attaining power as a dragonrider?"

The foolish, sentimental human's only answer was a derisive chuckle. "Power. What is power but an illusion... You want to learn something about me, Demon?"

Silence.

"I was never ambitious." Almost angrily, Kendath slung his traveling packs over his shoulder and walked away.

Evlyn grabbed Merrin by the arm. Not roughtly, but not so that she could escape. "You made the right choice" she said expressionlessly. She pulled her back to her cell and locled the door after her. merrin was thier prisoner once more. However in a few minits she returned, and threw a blanket and pillow though the door, before locking it again.

After Kendath walked away and Demon was left alone there was a quick rasping sound in the shadows, a white figure appeared. A figure in a white heavy robe, his hood shadowed his face and his arms were in his opposite sleeves like a monk of somesort.

"Tsk... perhaps you have taken your rider for granted... but power that is what you want is it not?"

He asked as his cold eyes locked on the dragon, his white long hair sticked out of the shadows of his hood and his chin was covered by a short white beard. His skin was pale and seemed rather lifeless as, if he had just dug himself out of ice after being freezed within it for many years.

Evlyn returned to Jemx who had retired to thier room I could carry you the whole way you know

Say that one more time and i'll tell Deamon how much you love his master She looked up at him, she lept towards him hands curved into claws. He fought back by takeing her legs getly but firmly in his jaws.

Merrin disdainfully refused to touch either of the objects Evlyn had tossed at her. "I'm quite warm enough, thank you," she muttered resentfully after the Meiltha had gone. "Hard not to be in this horrible hole of yours."

She rested her chin on her hand and sighed.

Demon, who'd been on his way to follow his rider out the door, froze and riveted his vermilion glare on the intruder. Warily, he assimilated the man's magi robes. His eyes narrowed.

"What do you want, human?"

After waiting for Demon outside in the corridor and wondering what in the abyss was taking so long, Kendath impatiently decided to check up on Evlyn.

He paused outside her door and knocked.

"Power"

He answered bluntly, but with a bif smile upon his face. He took few steps forward without fear and gazed towards the entrance of the chamber.

"My goals are similiar to your dragon, but if you cannot trust on your rider to achieve those goals with you then perhaps I can aid you. I have no reason to protect nor destroy the gods, but I am in need of some aid as this dragon war is just beginning to unfold. So... think about my proposition whenever you feel that you have been betrayed by your rider and I promise, I´ll be around.

I have watched the beginning and I am going to see it to the end... just for fun? Nah, for our gain"

He finnished with his eyebrow raised as he waited for an answer, but should it be a violent one then he would need to disappear.

A tiny portion of Demon was sorely tempted to accept. But a much larger portion was the ancestral bond, the love and loyalty a dragon had for its rider.

Nonetheless...

"Let's say I am interested," he said slowly. "Elaborate on your plan, human. You've been most inspecific."

Wondering what was taking the female rider so long to prepare for the journey, Kendath raised his hand to knock again. He stopped, though, hearing his dragon's voice in his mind.

Ken, I have an... intruder.

Kendath froze. What?

A mental image flashed in his mind, that of a white-robed man, followed by all that the man had just said.

Keep him distracted. I'm coming.

Demon snorted. I'm fairly certain I can deal with this arrogant pig.

The most critical part that all of this develops around, the war, betrayal, renegades and meiltha. He said and made a slash like move wth his hand before disappearing into the shadows once again.

So do we honestly think that the dragon would betray it`s rider? Garthag`s voice ran in Kalmas head.

Would you betray me? Kalma asked with a venomous voice.

For killing my bretheren magi and taking me as a prisoner at first? No, such petty grudges are childish and we both gain more together. You know me, you know my mind and thoughts Garthag reasoned.

Evlyn went limp in her Dragons jaws. Shivers went up and down her spine as his poison entered her body. He let her fall to the floor. Happy now?
"Baaastard" her words were slured slightly as the drug began to take affect. You know you enjoy it
"Hmmmm" a slow smile of pleasure spread acrose her face. "You could kill me by doing this"
Nonsense, you've had it so many times now that you're imune.
"Huh" something nagged at the back of her mind "What was i doing?"
"Ahhhh yes packing" pulling her relaxed mind together she picked up her things and put them in her sachel, then bukeling her weopen and fastening her cloak securly she almost fell out of the room before Jemx caught her. Heeeesh, you need some help i think, don't worry it will ware off soon He curled his tail around her and lifted her onto his back, where she rode silently, slowly recovereing from the drug.

An irritable Demon caught up with Kendath in the corridor. "Idiot mage. If he returns, I'll tear out his entrails."

Kendath smirked slightly. Evlyn and Jemx were just emerging from their chambers, with the rider looking a bit disoriented. He saluted her before moving off to the prison to fetch Merrin.
