What's your latest banner from, Valera? It looks like it has something to do with Little Red Riding Hood, but....I've never seen that poem associated with that story.
Daaron relayed another order to his scouts, then sighed. Space intel would make it all so much easier, detecting troop movements and such things, unless their nemesis had sensor-defying equipment, like what was imbedded in their camouflage netting. He flipped down the visor on his helmet, his brain quickly registering all the information that was revealed, like the names of various plants, until he turned that off with a touch of a button. That could get annoying, fast. Now his helmet was registering heat, and electrical pulses.
----
Looking over his shoulder, Sahrai smiled as Daaron put his visor down. That could make things a lot easier for a commando, but it wouldn't really do much for a Jedi, except give them trivial information. Life-detection they could accomplish well enough on their own. They crested a small rise, and he stopped. "Right in there," he said, pointing down the slope in front of them. Not much was there except for what looked like a small toolshed, or maybe a supply cabin for Maedan forest-caretakers or whatever it was that the Maedan had. Regardless of what it was disguised as, though, that was the entrance to the enemy base.
Okay, I don't have much of a plot of things to happen inside the base, nor have I given much thought to what it's like inside, so feel free to make stuff up as you go.

(noted. the banner references "Into the Woods" - a Sondheim musical - and yes, it has little red etc. in it. I happen to be in the pit orchestra for it. Will post an actual rp post tomorrow. I shall now go pass out. cheers!)

In the pit orchestra? What instrument do you play?
It's cool how you merged the Matrix-style background with the picture of LittleRedRidingHood. It goes pretty well - it took me a while to realize that it was like from the Matrix.

Originally I planned to use a different background, but this color worked better - I think it also associates the words with the internet and security and reality as well as the fairy tale... enough rambling. btw i play violin - which means that the cello and winds get all the good stuff and I get the scary, odd solos. Cool new banner!
na'Tatha dropped to the ground, wriggling forward on her belly to get a better vantage point. She pulled a scope out of her utility vest - she'd opted not to attach a Taarin HUD to her helmet - and surveyed the small building. There was definately a concentration of heat on the floor of the shed, indicating energy use beyond it. "An underground complex," she reported into her earpiece. Normally it would record any conversation as well as communicate with her comrades, but for an unofficial mission, it was a communicator only. Actual records didn't aid in government denial. "Nothing in the structure itself. Heads up for traps."

Viree13 merges with the shadows and leaves, her airy form slinking down with the rest of the patrol. She watches the others and waits for the cue.......

Lol....Violins do tend to get the solos, while Cellists like me get parts that sound cool when played with other pieces, but really boring when practiced alone.
Your banner does apply to the internet, too, so that background choice was a good one. I like it.
I couldn't find my 'Tengwar - Cursive' font on the computer (it turns out it got deleted somehow) so I had to use Moonrunes for the border, which somehow seem lacking, so I'm not satisfied with that banner. Thanks for the compliment, though.
Daaron watched as Viree vanished. Having gotten used to seeing her do that on missions over the last few months, he didn't gasp or anything, but paid attention to the reports of his squadmembers over the comm. "Sahrai?" he asked quietly. "It's up to you how you want to do this."
----
"Copy that," Sahrai replied, his brain working furiously. "Do you have any way of telling whether or not it's booby trapped?" he asked. "We can't tell much beyond the fact that it is booby trapped - any more information would require sensors that are normally found on a military vessel, and I don't mean a snubfighter." With a sigh, Sahrai glanced over to where he could sense Viree. "Viree, can you sense anything? I'm not as good at sensing non-living things as you are."

Viree13 raises an airy eyebrow and speaks out of nowhere. "I'll do my best...." Dropping all pretense of form, her condensed self spreads out, literally separating the molecules of her body as far as she can. Dropping all the shields from her mind, Viree13 sends out tendrils of Force-sense, exploring around trees and then down into the dip in the land. The tendrils that meet traps and dangers come writhing back to her and flash inside her mind. The last flickers reach the entryway and slither back to her.........
Viree13 reforms for a moment. "There are traps situated in an octagonal pattern, alternating as they close in...... If you don't hit one, you'll hit the next one......."

Woot! TG break! Deepest apologies for not posting - I had a series of exams and projects that leapt on me from a dark corner and dragged me off to live in the library. I have emerged with a strong desire to sleep for a week straight.
"Maanan's earlobe," na'Tatha muttered to herself. Speaking into her communicator, she asked, "Are they on the ground? How are they triggered - proximity, motion, heat? Can you see any distinguishing marks?"

Viree13 shrugs, her eyes flat and immobile. "The traps sense motion, and each have about a three-foot proximity....... If you get too close, you'll trigger them....... The ones closest to the entrance are guns, and the ones farther out are simple traps........"

na'Tatha closed her eyes briefly, picturing the layout in her mind. The image condensed into a schematic from a months-old briefing, and she smiled briefly. It was not a nice smile.
She triggered her communicator, addressing the commando force in general and their leaders in particular. "What we're looking at is a semi-standard Maedan combination. Viree13's 'inner guns' are M3-402 automatic projectile weapons set up to catch intruders in a crossfire. The outer traps are meant to catch survivors and hold them for interrogation. Not too gently, I might add. They can be avoided going in, but if one is running away from fire, one tends to get less cautious. The Taarin do have an established strategy to deal with this; it does involve triggering the automatics. We run a risk of alerting the enemy to our presence, if they are warned when the weapons fire."

Sahrai nodded to himself, then replied to na'Tatha. "We'll take the risk," he said, glancing pointedly at Daaron, who began issuing orders to his men. "Is there any particular way that we should set off the traps?"
----
Daaron crouched behind a thick tree trunk, waiting for the necessary information about how they should penetrate the bunker. It did rather annoy him when he had to wait for tactical info like this. Everyone was safely away from all of the traps, waiting for Sahrai to give them the signal to rush in, but the Jedi Master wasn't doing much of anything that was visible to them, right now. Instead, he was sitting crosslegged on the ground with his eyes closed, motionless. It was what he was doing that they couldn't see that interested Daaron--his friend was highly accomplished at making subtle alterations to things using the Force. Soon, the commando decided, they would see something happening.

na'Tatha cast a quick, searching eye over the area. "The concept is simple: set off one of the main traps and, when the others respond, mark their positions so they can be eliminated."
She brushed an arm over the grass surrounding her until she secured the object she wanted. "On my mark, be ready to neutralize anything that responds. I'll take the main weapon." The subcommander pulled herself into a more conducive firing position. "Three, two, one, mark." She sent the fist-sized stone skimming through the air, whizzing toward the trapped area. As it approached, several strings of projectiles began pumping out of the terrain.
na'Tatha adjusted the focus of her rifle's scope until she could clearly see the main automatic gun's barrel. Offsetting her crosshairs slightly, she fired twice, the gas-propelled bullets cracking smartly into their target.

Sahrai didn't bother opening his eyes as the traps went off. Since he had trouble sensing electronic things directly with the Force, he traced the path of destruction that he could feel--grass being seared, hapless insects that were in the wrong place at the wrong time--and followed it back to the source. A Force squeeze, and the weapon crumpled, to a point where it would never be usable again unless it was melted down first.
-----
Daaron ducked as the traps went off--some of those bolts went awfully close to his position. Looking through his sight, he focused on a stun mine that had activated its force field. Anything that touched that would be knocked unconscious in a very uncomfortable manner. It probably wouldn't affect a laser bolt, though. He squeezed the trigger, and watched in satisfaction as the mine blew up, its force field dissipating into non-existance.

na'Tatha watched with approval as the New Republic commandos made short work of the rest of the traps. They were efficient and brutal - good qualities in soldiers, as long as they were also controlled. "We're clear," she announced, and waited for the orders to advance. "Secure the perimeter."

Viree13 sends out strands of her Force, slipping through the holes in the networks of stun mines and deactivating them. She moves about the perometer, repeating this maneuver on every mine she comes across......

Sahrai smiled as he felt Viree disabling the mines. Finally shifting position, he opened his eyes and moved from sitting crosslegged to kneeling, still not willing to become too visible a target by standing up.
A few minutes later, the last trap was silenced, and the assembled strike team cautiously advanced. "Anything more we need to know about these things, Sub-Commander?" Sahrai asked, facing the Taarin officer.
----
Daaron waved his demolitions and computer specialists forward. Who knew what traps and sensors the entry itself would have? Whatever it was, they should be able to handle it. While waiting for the two specialists to complete their analysis, he crouched behind a tree trunk with his blaster rifle ready, unsure of what might happen when they tried to enter the complex.
