Yeah I know... I've becoming the evil double-poster of Doom... kick me....

I was wondering whether to post this in the Your life section, but figured that it was more of an 'adult-thing'.... Second Life... I just recently heard of it, does any of you use it or know anyone who does? I just registered for it, but haven't been able to log on because I think my Firewall blocks it...

Use second life? I've only heard of a second life as in a life after this one. So no, I'm afraid not.

Second Life is a community or a parallel world in cyperspace, as far as I understand it. But real life companies, politicians and 'ordinary' people buy estate there and set up stores, advertise and everything else just like real life. MacDonalds and Coca-Cola are there, a growing number of politicians run campaigns there etc.
You find it here: http://secondlife.com/

Oh well that's interesting...what exactly is the point to it? I mean, do we REALLY need more McDonalds and Wal-Marts? Aren't there enough in reality? :P Ha ha ha...me and stupid corporate rants.

Well, I suppose if I actually went to the link...ha ha ha...

I haven't been to Second Life yet... I need to talk my firewall into accepting the program first...

But no, you're right... what new is to a cyperreality if it's just the same stuff... however it's big business. I read in the paper that people are selling estates and building grounds on nice spots..

Hum. Well, I was surprised my firewall let me in there...but I don't think I'll join. It'd just tempt me to waste time online, and I have enough trouble with that here *laughs* 8)

I was thinking about the name of the club... Last Alliance of Voters when trying to come up with new topics. I read your reasoning behind the title, but somehow it has some dusty air about the name. When seeing it I get the feeling I should say something intellectual about politics in general or discuss poll systems around the globe...

But in fact the Gentlewomen's Society has the same kind of upperclassy name... though their name is a bit more general...
My point is, I would love to discuss various topics with you here, but what would make you come here more often? Is it only a matter of time, or would you post here more if the topics were different, funnier, more interesting....random...?
Do we need more polls or contests or...?

...OR a name change? :P I'm open to different ideas. That was sure an improvement over what I could find at first "Tweens" haha

So, since it's december, how has your view on the holiday season or how you celebrate it changed now you're an adult? I know outlooks do change, and perceptions, so don't be shy now!

Perhaps a name change... *ponders* But like you said on one of the first pages, the Last Allinance flows well off the tongue... It's just a very...er... not flowing title... I mean it's abit heavy...

Concerning Christmas. It takes longer for me to get into the holiday spirits, and mainly because I have huge papers to turn in before Christmas...

Mmmm...the holidays. Well, what irritates me is that right after Halloween, it seems that a lot of people start decorating for Christmas. And Thanksgiving hasn't even passed! That happened at our university. November 1, they started decorating campus for Christmas. BAH! 2 WHOLE freaking months of Christmas decorations and lights! Bah! I think it should be a law (at least in the United States) that Christmas decorations are to banned until the day after Thanksgiving. I can handle it a little better then.
But, I do enjoy the holiday season. I can't really think about it until a couple weeks into December and then finals and the semester are over. But I do like the atmosphere leading up to Christmas. However, I do not celebrate Christmas as the Christian holiday that it supposedly is. (I'm not a believer of the Christian faith, or any for that matter) But I celebrate the ... erm ... "idea" of the holidays. Getting together with family and giving presents! :) Though, most of my family is Catholic, and I have to endure all of that - we don't really focus on that. It's just being together that we care about. I know that sounds cheesy, but that's the best way that I could put it.
I have definately grown to loathe the corporate/commercial world that is now Christmas (at least in the U.S.).
Mmm....I don't know what else to say....ha ha ha....:P But now I feel like I should go do my shopping RIGHT now. :)

[Owh... a name change! That's great! But I thought you were allowed to vote at the age of 16 in some countries...?]

Yay!! Name change! It's wonderful!
Eä, I think you're right, in some countires it is 16, but I'm thinking, that overall...this club is meant for those..."adults"...those ususally at or over the age of 18. Make sense? At least, that's what I'm assuming. Ha ha ha! I want to say it's universal, but I could be wrong. But I think in most places, it's usually 18 when people are considered "adults." Bah, I'm just going to shut up before I sound like a complete idiot and confuse myself and everyone else.

Nono, you're not sounding like a [political correctness] mentally challenged person[end political sillyness] at all. :P
*whispers* I just thought that some of the members of the club were just 16... sorry, my bad..

Anyway, I always found it interesting the whole 'adulthood determination'. Why 18? I mean in the U.S. you are allowed to drive when you are 16, but you can't drink leaglly until the age of 21. Earlier people were considered adults at confirmation, which was usually at 13. A person is sexually resonsable from the age of 15 in many countries...
I wonder how society determines those age levels and how they influence us and the way we think...

[MontanaBohemian, you took the banner out of your sig without editing the thanks to gil ;-)]
