Who is your favorite couple in the Sil?

Obviously, Lúthien and Beren are one of my favorites but I really have a thing for Ëarendil and Elwing. How about you all?

Yes, I thought Earendil and Elwing were interesting. (I came up with a condensed version of their story so I could explain it to my brother... that I thought was entertaining.)

I'll have to think about that one, but I feel that it will be Luthien and Beren in the end...

Galadriel and Celeborn! I always thought that was really sweet... Galadriel stayed in Doriath to be with Celeborn, even though her brother built a kingdom away from her...

That's true. Definently shows love. I guess I like Ëarendil and Elwing because of how she flies out to meet him. It paints such pretty pictures in my mind. :)

Yes. That was sad. :'( Wasn't it he who would visit her body but eventually stopped because she never woke up?

Yeah, she looked like she was sleeping but she did actually die- he thought she was still asleep because her body stayed perfect, never decaying. :(

Shhhht... Don't tell me! I've not read that part yet! I'm reading the Silm. I'm now reading the part about Beren and Luthien. So don't give away the endings!

I thought the part with Finwë and Míriel (that was her name!) very sad. But I don't like Fëanor that much...

I know! That was horrible! When I read it I just paused. I couldn't believe those nasty dwarves! :annoyed: No wonder the Elves don't like the Dwarves. Can you blame'em?

They're just mean... the only dwarf I ever really liked was Gimli! Or maybe Thorin in The Hobbit...

Same here :). Lovely couple, they were, although I really don't understand why Melian did not came to visit Elu Thingol after his death. She could have at least done that, right?

Doriath was a very strong Kingdom, protected by the power of Melian, the Girdle of Melian was very useful. A real shame it was destroyed.

Beren and Luthien most definantly...........I love the whole drama of Luthien giving up her immortality for Beren.

The destruction of Doriath all owed to the sons of Feanor... *has no love WHATSOEVER for them*
