thanks, turwaithiel. i'm afraid i didn't get too much rest last night, but i did at least write my entry...at 4 in the morning. it's not great, but i'm not used to writing about stuff like this - my speaciality is confessional poetry. anyways, enough excuses, here it is:
Snapshots of Winter
Dew becomes jewel by Jack Frost’s hand
And a blanket of white covers the land.
Breath comes now in puffs of smoke
To the great amusement of little folk.
Footsteps crunch in virgin snow,
Soon smoothed out by sledge in tow.
Robin bares his chest with pride –
Bright red to warm the cold outside.
Snowman waves with arms of twigs
As in the snow a small child digs.
The sleepy sun soon retires
And leaves us to hot drinks and fires.
Hard, cold stars burn blackened sky
And a silvery moon shines on high.
Lace of frost covers knotted bark –
Web of diamonds glittering in the dark.
Wind of ice cuts to the bone
As through the eaves its voices moan.
Then feeble sun casts watery light
And puts an end to winter’s night.

I kept meaning to write a poem for this, I did! But life has been so crazy...I know the deadline's tomorrow, so I'm gonna have to drop out...sorry guys  _________________

Right, here's something I have thought of:
Graceful hands of winds
Sweep away remnants
Of brown and gray leaves
From the hanging branches
Yet eternal green trees
Stand proudly with
Snow glistening on
Their lush green leaves
All around lays a white
Blanket of ice and snow
With mountains, almost
Invisible in the horizon
And now slowly, subtle
Movements of winds
Seize dying leaves
And take them up and up
Similar to dancer's movements
Leaves and winds spiral upwards
Like cyclones amongst forests
Moving independently gracefully
Night lights dull stars
Blazing them with fires
As leaves and winds
Continue their slow dance
Snow, falling ever so softly,
Joins them in their revelry
Until all forces of nature
Subdued by winter, dance.

Well TN (now Tifa Lockhart) PMed back and said she'd been busy lately... *shrug* and hers isn't in yet. Neither are a bunch of other peoples', and I don't know what to do. Ya, they missed the deadline, but the starter of the contest didn't have her entry in.

Okay, Im sorry. 
Dont worry, I'll get this fixed. and I am going to submit mine today for sure, or if dont tomorrow. I wrote my entry in my notebook back in Nov. now I gotta go find it.

The Sun has
crept behind the hills,
no more to warmth the
earth. The rain drops
turn to white flakes,
glistening everlasting
as they paint the land
below white. No more
flowers to bloom for time,
no more cool nights,
except a bitter cold one.
The whiteness that painted
the land, shines in moonlight,
pales in sunlight. Trees throw
on their new coats of white,
looking ever more the lovelier.
Its a beauty that lingers
on its own, a wintry mystery,
a moonlit castaway,
yet a stirring beauty, whom
all love, a white, sacred beauty.
Glistening like a shattered
crystal, a cold bitter end to
stay, stay for awhile, to adjust eyes,
that is Winter.
eh..not my best... I was gonna write a better one..
