Going back to ancestries very briefly...- Sadly I can't call myself completely, one hundred percent Briton. Mum traces her ancestry back to Germany, however that was years ago and many, many generations back. It does leave a black mark on my record though, doesn't it?

I'm more Irish than English. My dad's dad was Irish and as my immediate family come from Liverpool which in history has had many Irish settlers living there, or Irish passing through to go to America, I'm pretty much Irish. I know there is also some German-Jewish in me as well from a great-great-great grandmother or something.

Seems to be a lot of Irish ancestory here :D I love Ireland, nothing better than horse riding in woods or along the beach with no one else for miles. I talk to a lot of people online who don't know anything about it and yet rubbish it becuase they think it's all potatoes and drunk people :P

Ive studied Irish History and I agree with ur feeling of annoyance at steroetying of th eIrish. Their history and culture are extremely complex and have had a major effect on British history.

Well, blame it on American educations and my ignorance, but I know very little of Ireland except there is the IRA, there was a potato famine which caused a massive Irish immigration, the majority of the Irish are Catholics, and the British have control of a province called Northern Ireland.

It is a subject I feel that needs more looking at because it affects not only Britain, but at leaste the USA and other parts of the world.

LOL, dudes, there is more to Ireland than potatoes and drunks but as I have heard tales of Irish ancestors I know that they are fond of the drink and associating Ireland with drunks is due to this. Just like Scots and Haggis. Of course i think most people would mention Irish whiskey before mentioning the drunks. :P

^Haha that's true.

But, call it stereotypical, but the Irish really do enjoy drinking....and soo, it's one of those sorta true stereotypes. :p

But either way....I've just got 99.9% of italian in me, but since I'm not British, and merely a fan of this club, that information useless to you. *shrinks away*

...

Westlife and Louis Walsh...the two most irritating things ever to exist. Not just from Ireland, just..ever.

My Irish family like drinking, but they don't do it all the time. I agree that it is kind of a true stereotype, but I don't like the assumption that every single Irishman is in a pub every night.

Glad no one is going to go against me for my part German ancestry. My fellow Britons are so accepting..

JF: I had no idea you were Irish [or partly] at all! You don't quite have their dialect... at least that's what I can tell that from what I've heard of your voice.

Sorry peeps but I think that's quite harsh about Louis Walsh and Westlife. I don't particular like Walsh but even so I'd say mosquitos and colds were more irritating. As for Westlife, I think most of the problem with them is the people that like them. It irritates people who don't like them at how much certain folk in this world rave about them. Personally I think they are very good singers, and I have nothing against them or their fans.

So, no more Brit bashing Ok? ;)

Lol, Larael. I haven't been in contact with any Irish ancestors and as my family come from Liverpool orginally, my accent is slightly Scouse (although I am doing my best to de-Scouse myself as I don't like the city or the accent). As a lot of the orignal inhabitants of where I live have a nice northern accent, I too 'ave that kind o' drawl as well. :-)

Sometimes I think Sean Bean would pay god money t'have my accent.
;)
