Sorry, just can't like him. I'm weird. Remember, looks mean nothing to me, so I am very critical.

What I liked about Jack Davenport was when they were fighting and Norrington kicks the sand into Will's eyes and then he turns around and says, "By your leave, Mr. Turner." To me, it had a better effect than when Will does it.

Dark, Okay, I'll call you Dark then. Thanks for letting me do so. It's much shorter to type and thefore easier.
Altariel Frodo, Here, here! I agree with you...at least to some extent, when it comes to Jack Davenport. He is just too wimpy for my tastes. I will say though that I can tolerate him because he seems to be very nice person and a pretty good actor when stunts are put aside. I know what you mean though and am not just jumping to his defense. In fact I was very angrey when he went on about the stunt double in the mastering of the blade bit. I kept thinking, "Good greif stop talking about the stunt double. You should be the one doing that!" and just shaking my head. I thought that if Keira and Orlando and Johhny could do the majority of their stunts (if not all for some of them) then Jack could have done so as well.
Orlando girly?! Why, (shakes head) I certainly don't think that Orlando is girly. He is very tough. (nods as I have made up her mind on this matter)
As for Keira my vote on her is still out. However for the time being I have nothing what so ever against her. She seems like a very good actress and as for her personality....I'll give her a little more time, I think, to grow up. So for now I remain one of her fans.

like Jack said, he just wasnt cut out for the stunts, its very hot in those places and i think the only reason Orlando was able to do all of his own stunts was because of his training on LotR. Probably the only reason Keira could do it was becuase shes young, i have no idea how Johnny did all of it but thats beside the point.
I know if i was out there, doing those stunts, my stunt double would be doing a lot of them, because im not the sort of person who could handle all of that strenous activity. I see nothing wimpy about Jack Davenport becuase he couldnt do some of the stunts, i think its stupid that you guys are calling him wimpy because he couldn't do some of the stunts.

Yes! I finally saw it last night! Not sure how my overly critical mother liked it, but my dad laughed his head off.

My problem is that he didn't even try. I would have been doing every last stunt I could possibly do, even if I broke something in the process. And I'm an artistic teenage girl, not a grown man.
Though personality-wise, he's OK. He seems cheerful, which I like.

I think it's fun when actors do their own stunts, but I'm not going to hold it against poor Jack. They have stuntmen for a reason. Those stunts probably were very difficult, and it would going above and beyond to do them yourself. It seems that because the others decided to do so, Jack was labeled less-than-average.
I admire your bravery, Altariel Frodo! But not all of us would be so willing to break a limb.

Altariel Frodo, You hit the nail on the head! I mean it really would have made a difference if he had at least tried. If he just was not physically able and he knew that because he had tried to do some of the stunts it would have made a world of difference to me. I would have even accepted it if he had done most of them and had the stunt double just do a few of them (like Johhny Deep did) but he just didn't make a move to try.
I would have given it a try as well, and I'm of afraid of pretty well everything teenage girl. lol I also agree about his personality and that is the only reason that I like him. He is indeed from what I can tell a very cheerful and nice person.
p.s. Does Orlando have a stunt double? I know that Johnny Deep has one named Tony A. and Keira has one that is named Lisa something and Jack Daven Port has one (not sure of his name) but I've never heard of Orlando having one for PotC...so does he have one at all?

Well, sometimes they don't let the actors do some of the stunts, so I think pretty much everybody had a stunt double. He must've had a stunt double when Will jumped from mast to mast.
And if Orlando was girly, he wouldn't have broke his back, ribs, nose, both his legs, arm, wrist, a finger, a toe and cracked his skull 3 times. *admires* lol

*Admires along with you* Yeah, people who call him girly sort of drive me nuts. I mean, I can see how someone might think Legolas looks rather girly...but Will definetely doesn't, and I don't think Orlando does in real life either.

You guys seems so hell bent on saying Jack Davenport did nothing but I don't recall hearing that any of you were on set during all of the fight sequences. We don't exactly how much of it he did himself but he had to do a fair share because we see his face. He said himself he isn't cut out for stunts anyway and not everyone is. It's not as easy as it looks.
And Orlando does have a stunt double. The far away shots of the 3 guys fighting on the top of that church or whatever it was before they got on the wheel is three stunt doubles.
Anyway I've never particularly liked Orlando because too many girls pine over him it gets on my nerves . It just ruined a lot of his characters for me.

That's terribly annoying, because I like Orlando as an actor (and I like some of his characters ) but if I so much as mention any of these facts I am labeled a rabid fangirl. Grrarr. Especially with LotR - I'm not allowed to like Legolas, because then I'm just another fangirl and not a ture fan, who just happens to like one of the movie's characters.

i love all of the guy charries in LotR, but i dont slaver over them(except for Aragorn), but i consider myself a true fan(what ever that may be). None of anyones characters have been ruined by fangirls, i just like them for how they act, all of the actors in PotC did amazing jobs, and saying that one is wimpy or girly is stupid, just because they couldnt do stunts, or because too many people pine over their hotness.
