hobbit fan I also have a green broke horse. So I have sympathy for you. Its really frustrating for the fact that you just can't hop on. But when your trainers not their I suggest working on in hand stuff and de spooking. It has really made mine and my 4 year old horses relationship blossom.

I hope you and your Trainer have success in breaking your horse. My Dancer is four and she's dead broke, but we have to free lounge her if she's been in her stall to long.

My horse is only 4 and she's been trained in jousting 8) Yes, I do jousting  It's really fun! _________________

That's cool! How do you prepare a horse for jousting?

Well my horse is broken in pretty good now. I have gotten her into the bridle, and to bend nicely in the corners. The thing I am working on right now is her canter. She doesnt use her back legs, and stretches out her head to keep going. And she is really really fast! Haha but im working on it. Its hard work but i love it! Nothing beats the satisfaction of training your own horse

That's cool you train your own horse! I'm not into training, but you won't have to worry about training fees!

LOL my training's going ok but she's still hard headed as an Ox! And even though I've spent hours and hours desensitivizing Ruby to spooky objects she's still spazy.
Like today I took of my jacket and had it over my arm and went over to pet her and she almost pulled down the tree that she was tied to but as soon as I put the jacket on she tried to eat it. I took it off and she did the exact same thing as before!
It can be frustrating.
But it doesn't help that I'm taking my lessons on a diffrent horse altogether now. But I did barrels today on my lessons horse Sandy and I went through the pattern like 8 or 9 times and at a fast canter I only hit the barrel once ( OW!!!!) Word of the wise stay away from the barrels, and if you have weak shins wear shin guards when you ride a pattern including barrles

^:lol: I actually have never done barrels. I was going to buy a previous barrel racing horse, but they tend to have problems in their legs like fusions and arthritis. Good job though! Only knocking down one is really really good! lol. My horse never even spooks at anything. She it totally bombproof. In a way it is a good thing, because she wont be all crazy. But its alot harder to train them, because they dont listen to anything you do.
Well the only way I can think about trying to get your horse to not be scared with the jacket would be to show her that it isnt going to hurt her. You have probably already tried that though haha.
And yes Lady Raine of the Rangers your right about no training fees  But then you still have to pay for the board and for lessons. Horses can be sooo expensive. But it is definatly worth it  _________________ <center>

Yeah I did try that a few time but once I got closer to her butt with the jacket she flipped out and started to rear up and pull away from the tree so I decided that I would work with her on it another time.
And if its not bad enough that she's spooky she's also really sensitive at everything!
Like today I mounted her and tried to get my feet in the stirrups and she started to walk, I pulled her back and went to put my foot in again and she started to dance around like she was confused. It was all because of the fact that I was lightly tapping her with my legs when I was trying to put my foot in the stirrups!

Sound like you got yourself a handful there!  May I ask a few questiong? What kinda of breed, and how old? Also whats her name Ahh I love horses haha. Do you have a trainer, or do you ride on your own? _________________ <center>

Uh.. she's a non-registered Sorrel Quarter horse she's four almost five and her name is Ruby Lee , but if I get her registered I'm gonna name her Runaway Ruby from the Land of Oz

Awww how cute!! I love the name. My horse on the other hand...haha her show name is Ima Fanny Warlock But we call her Mia. I will probably change it once we start showing. My horse is turning 6 next month. _________________ <center>

My Dancer's show name is Zippo's Poco Chic, and she turns 5 next month! I can't wait..maybe then she'll stop testing me, but she's a sweet heart and very lazy. Just wondering...dose anybody show and what discipline(s)/classes do you show in, and what level do you show at, Amatuer, pro,non-pro, or other?
I show in Western and I do Western Pleasure, horsemenship, and Showmenship. I do nonpro, I'm in 4-H. But I want to get more into the Reining and cow work.
