oh no. I feared you might ask that. I honestly can't choose. It's impossible. but I can name my absolute favourites: The Uruk-Hai, The Return of the King, The Riders of Rohan, The King of the Golden Hall, The Hornburg, Helm's Deep, The Breaking of the Fellowship, Forth Eorlingas, Evenstar, Breath of Life.. yes, a long list and more to come when I listen to all of the RotK soundtrack's song (just got it). and the songs listed above aren't in any order.

I like the Return of the King song because it's so long! and I love Viggo's voice, and all the little bits of the themes that are played

Well, I just like the fact that Sir James Galway was selected to play for the soundtrack

^nice =) I didn't know who Sir James Galway was before I listened to the soundtracks but obviously you know him because you play flute Lady of Rohan ooo.. I listened to some songs from the RotK soundtrack today for the first time, and I fell in love with 'the Grey Havens'!!! do any of you know what instrument is played in 'minas morgul' in the very beginning, (the evil guys' theme )? it sounds to me like someone whining lol I'm not an expert on woodwinds/brass instruments.

I think, if the movies were compared to a violin, FotR's songs would be like G and D strings, loosely tightened. TTT's songs would be like D and A, quite tense but relaxed too, and RotK's song would be totally E string, high-pitched, very tightly tuned (except maybe for the Grey Havens-song, it's quite relaxed). If that makes any sense to anybody RotK is the most emotional and tense of them all. Personally I maybe like the TTT soundtrack best, but all of them are fantastic!

^It's probably Clarinets, and the whole woodwind section and maybe a combo of brass, aye?
and welcome TN

It sounds too rough in my opinion to be a clarinet.. I mean my friend's clarinet sounds very calm and pleasant maybe I'm wrong. I love the violin solo in the beginning of 'the king of the golden hall'
