Well wit my boots brown Justin's are the norm in Texas...for Western unless you want some gaudy big ole' fat boots that you have to buy special stirrups for.
Oh but today I went to a nicer new tack store and i got a hand woven wool Navajo, a barrel pad, ( of chores both purple), a medium leather headstall, and the closest oiled pair of split reins they ha..

And with that you western riders here. DO you prefer split reins or barrel ( roper) reins???

Yeah I had a talk about that because even though I barrel race on another horse my horse has a very sensitive mouth so I have to use the split reins so that their longer

But my mom is considering letting me take English to get the flat work in and after I have accomplished that she says we might have someone train Ruby to do English and Dressage!

Thats awesome! Do you think english or western is harder? I think english is. My horse knows some dressage, but right now she isnt listening to me at all and its getting really annoying.

...well that's the hole in my mothers plan I don't know how to ride English...and I don't think anyone within a hundred mile radius does.

I think that English is harder. (I ride both by the way)

The number one reason that I can think of is the saddle. You just have a lot more stability in a western saddle.

^Yeah western for me is more of just to like ride for fun and stuff. Unless you get really serious into it with barrels and stuff. But with english you have to keep the horse in the bridle, and there is just soo much to do. Its so fun though!

Weeziey if you have any questions about english feel free to ask! Maybe we can help you a little if you cant find anyone around you :P

I ride Western and I love it! My boots are ariats (they double as show boots/riding boots.) The best thing about riding western is how fancy everything is, you have show saddles and show bridles, and show halters decked out in silver, you have glittery shirts. Check out www.hobbyhorseinc.com

Yeah I remember going to shows that were both western and english and I always liked to check out what they were all wearing. And you guys get to wear cowboy hats while we got the huge black helmets :P But your outfits are really cool! And western saddles are really comfy :)

I rode western a couple years ago and now have switched to jumpers. I miss the outfits and the saddle and practically everything about it. :-( But I love jumping.

No, but I would like to. I ride a warmblood and I think that a little dressage work would really help our communication skills.
