Yes Pirates should definitely win the Academy Award for Visual Effects. The CGI was really amazing.

It was great how they added all the details, especially when the suction cups hit the side of the hole and made that noise. I was so amazed about everything they did, especially with The Kraken.

and the music box sounded so cool! i wish that the music for davy jones and the music box thing in the movie sounded the same in the soundtrack , but it's slightly different and not so real-sounding i guess as it is in the movie.
i finally got the special edition for PotC DMC. hehe but i haven't watched it yet hehe. but me and my family had plans to go see the AWE midnight showing, but the night it comes out is the night before my exams!!!!! i am so disappointed...

Please excuse me but I got to ask: What makes Norrington, out of a lack of a better word, lovable? I really can't think of a reason why people love him. Well, he is quite cold but besides that.

I noticed that the fangirls only truly emerged once he got grungy.

I like Jack Davenport's voice...I think that's really what made me start loving Norrington as a character. Also I feel for him because he's been through so much, he pretty much lost everything. You can't blme the guy for wanting his life back.
I'm like that with a lot of characters I like. I like Ben and Locke from Lost because they make me feel empathy for them more so than the other characters.

I can think of a couple.
1. He looks sexy dirty.
2. He looks sexy with a wig and a uniform on.
3. His voice when he says "My story..." is drool-worthy.
4. He's a tragic hero, one who has lost all honour and sense of himself for love.
5. Even though the events that passed in number 4 happened he is still ready to save/be there for Elizabeth.
6. He is not a saint, he may be willing to die for Lizzie but as we can see in DMC he still wants his honour and valour, his old life back.
7.We all just feel so bad for the poor guy! And out of our "Awww"ing comes the squealing and fangirling.
8. He's so sad that we want to huggle him.
9. He's not your typical hero, and he's not a villain, he's a good man with flaws, sins, and all that is evident to us.....which makes him a real person, down-to-earth, and just more lovable.
10. He has a sense of personal hygiene.
11. He has morals, follows standards and is an over all decent person, we like our men firm and strong. xD
12. Oh yeah....and because of this clicky
13. .....and this clicky
14. and this one too... clicky
15. And did I mention he just looks so darn good in brocade!!

^ Heh, those are excellent reasons.
Main reasons why I like him is because, like Ms.Gamgee said, he's not exactly a hero, yet he's not a villian. He's just a real person who's undergone a lot of things. And he has a captivating voice.

Ok, well, after I watched DMC for the second time, I've come to like his voice but I think I sort of, kind of understand it. Thanks for the answers. Carry on with the previous topic.

Yeah, didn't the first one got nominated for Visual Effects but got beaten by Lord of the Rings? I think I remember that one. Oh, well, this year, I'm pretty sure Pirates got it. What other competition is there?
