I'm not sure how many people have seen this movie on the forum, since it's rated R, but it is amazing. It's extremely brutal and filled with gore. But it's such a good movie. It was visually amazing, if they don't win an Oscar MontanaBohemian and I will go after people :P

It's an amazing story of a young girl and a magical Labyrinth. It's been deemed as "A Fairytale for Grownups".

Amazing movie. Beautiful. I had tears in my eyes at the end.

Oh my god.

YES we WILL go after people if it doesn't win an Oscar. GRRRR!! Fear my wrath! :P

I definately think it's one of the best films I have EVER seen. I think it's one of the best films ever MADE.

Rather brutal, as Sida said. But, considering it was during the time of Franco...kind of expected. My mom, who lived in Spain in the 70s, said people were still ridiculously scared of him. Basically, as violence goes...anything goes. :P But don't let that deter you. Because, the violence is only a small part.

It's so colourful and brilliantly written. All I can really think ... is that OH MY GOD IT'S FREAKING FANTASTIC!!! Because, it's so hard to put your finger on what makes it so good. It's so brilliant all around...wow.

Now, as for the ending...I didn't have tears in my eyes. I just had weird, mixed feelings. :P Hard to explain. It's just the sort of thing...that gets in your head and stays with you.

GAH!!! I'm just SO in love with it!

I was going to try and write something brilliant down here...but...nothing can compare to Pan's Labyrinth's brilliance.

It's unlike anything you will ever see.

EVERYONE GO SEE IT!!!

Fantastic movie. If they don't win I will join you both and drag the Pale Man along with me. He'll eat the Academy's heads. :P
n
I kind of liked the violence. Especially when Mercedes did you know what to you know who.

Anyway. I was expecting more fantasy, but what they had was breathtaking. Especially the faun. He was amazing. I also loved the fact that it is in spanish... it made it better.

"Me? I've had so many names. Old names that only the wind and the trees can pronounce. I am the mountain, the forest and the earth. I am... I am a faun. Your most humble servant, Your Highness."

*Eye twitches* Nothing I can say can adequately convey how good this movie is. *Gives up*

I loved the ending. "He won't even know your name." BANG! MWAH HA HA.

Question: In your opinion, was everything real or imaginary?

I'd say that it was real. Just a couple of things, mainly the fact that she got into the Captain's room when hers was guarded.

Ha. For once, the critics are right. It's just so BRILLIANT.

And I would advise following the rating...if you're...young. I don't know if you are...:P I was sqeeming in some parts, and I'm known for being rather morbid. (American Psycho, anyone? ;) )

Or when his cheek was cut open...slowly...and then he stitched it back up...and then drank alcohol.

*feels sick*

Throughout that whole scene, I was turned around with my hands over my face sliding down my seat...to hide. I'm 19 years old for crying out loud! GAH!

The whole audience just groaned and freaked out at that part. :P

I thought it was kind of cool. Unpleasant but cool.

I really felt sorry for the rebel guy they captured... "Count to three without stuttering." That part was, IMHO, the most brutal.

I watched Pan's Labyrinth yesterday. Not sure what I thought of it.. I mean it was totally original and very cool but it wasn't at all what I thought it would be and that's not necessarily a good thing in this case lol. I am not a big fan of weird grotesque alien-like creatures and I thought it'd be more of an actual labyrinth in the film. It was beautifully done nonetheless!

I didn't hear about this movie until the Oscars, but it looks really interesting. There's absolutely no way I would consider seeing it- gore and intensity is simply not something I can handle. Anyone feel like writing up a plot summary so I can enjoy the plot without being visually disturbed? :P

My mate and I just watched it on Saturday. I must say it was fantastic, a real cinematic achievement. I loved how the story could be taken to so many different levels; you could enjoy it on the surface as a good film, relate to the choices and temptations Ofelia had (Forbidden fruit anyone?) and then go even further into how Fascist Spain was reflected in the events the girl had to go through. For instance the Dinner party goes on at the same time as she meets the Pale Faced man at the table.

You could also relate the tasks to her emotional and psychological thoughts at all the pain and troubles she was going through, and how the fairytale could just be her psyche sorting it all out into something comprehendable. All in all, I loved it.

Yay!! I'm glad you liked it!! It really was a very well done film. Everything about it is just sooooo perfect!

I was very disappointed that it didn't win the Oscar for best foreign film. It really, REALLY deserved it. But, it won lots of other things! :)

It's intense, Nienor...but the gore is hardly there. I mean there are definatley scenes with it...but, it doesn't overwhelm the movie. That's not what the movie is about. The story just happens to be set in Franco's Spain...which inevitably was really violent. So, don't turn away from it because of that. Just close your eyes like I did. XD :P

Pan's Labyrinth was an amazing movie! I really had no idea what to expect going in, but wow, it was so beautifully done. I'm not a horribly squirmish person when it comes to movies - but a couple of scenes in this movie got to me.

The end was just perfect. I loved the message of the movie, and I think that it was portrayed so well.
