As the captain slowed, so did Alendariel. There was no sense in isolating herself from the others.

Maralyn glanced behind them. The city of Imladirs was no longer visible, swallowed up in the distance by dense, towering trees. Maralyn feared that it would be a long time before she returned to her birthplace; who knew what peril lay ahead?

Lilaine thought about what would happen in the near furture. she hoped to stop whatever this evil was. but she was also scared of what this evil actually was and was terror's it would bring.

Warnings tore through Alendariel's mind as they entered a part of the forest darker still. She sighed. "I shall see what I can do to light it." she took a translucent stone on a chain of silver from beneath her clothes and closed her eyes. Within seconds, brilliant light shot out from the stone, illuminating the area about them. She muttered a word in the elven tongue and the light moved to surround the army.

Maralyn blinked as her eyes adjusted to the light which now flooded their part of the forest. She could see nothing but trees all around them, towering above them menacingly. We must be in the center of the forest by now, Maralyn thought.

Lilaine was thankful for the light. she looked around. still having a very watchful eye. Lilaine looked twards Maralyn. " you know i really haven't fully understood where were going and why.." she said wondering.

Alendariel cursed as her concentration momentarily broke, plunging them into darkness. She apologized quickly and restored the light.

Lilaine felt as if there was someone watching them. she hated the feeling but still kept wondering when Maralyn would answer her question.

Alendariel paused. She too felt unseen eyes follow her every move. She glanced at Maralyn and Lilane. "Let us hurry." she said, doubling her pace.

[Sorry I haven't been posting, guys; I've been uber busy with RL and such. >.<]

Maralyn turned to Lilaine as the army continued its way through the sinister forest, whispering out of the corner of her mouth. "I shall explain everything in due time, mellon nin...once we've set up camp." She pressed her lips together in a firm line and lightly slapped her horse’s reins against its neck so it would go faster. The she-elf was uneasy, and she could sense an uneasiness in the horses as well. Who knew what could be lurking in the shadows of this forest, watching their every movement? The thought caused Maralyn to shudder. She touched a hand to the hilt of her sword as if for reassurance.

Alendariel paused. "It will be some days before we exit the woods, and the army is tired." she glanced back to the weary army. "I shall provide light and a shield for you all as you slumber. Do either of you possess magic? I would greatly appreciate aid, as my powers are already severely taxed."

"I'm afraid I cannot be of any help in that area," Maralyn replied in answer to Miluiel's question, shrugging apologetically.
