Alex noticed his new master enter the room. "Thats me." he said, waving a hand to her. They sat down to hear what the Kor'daera had to say.

(That little bit was before Aerandirs speech :P)

Nolani attempted to push Threng through the doorway, but only succeeded in in pushing the shirt up his back. He tugged it back down: he was used to this kind of behavior, and slowly walked into the room, allowing Nolani to pass before him. He was overly cautious, somthing that was good in a bodygaurd, but not for some one who was impatient. She just managed to catch Feyl's speech. She nodded at the words. She and Threng would do what had to be done.

Marvilan drank in the words of the man as he pondered on what he said. The entire deal with the Gohls being able to possess people wasn't exactly new. The Bekaran knew about that long ago. Unfortunately the means destroying them were, at this point, unknown. Marvilan knew what had to be done but didn't like it.

Karina stared at Feyl. His words hit her hard and strong. She had never been foolish enough to get close to anyone. Karina wasn't the smartest of peopls but she understood the magnitude of attatchment and wasn't planning on reopening hurts from the past.

Feyl raised his voice once again before everyone dispersed.

"While we shouldn't get close enough that we hesitate before killing one another when necessary, we can still be social. More wine and food is being brought," he said, smiling slightly at the thought. Food was good--he thought better on a full stomach.

Even as he spoke, doors opened at the other end of the hall and blue-clad servants entered, carrying great platters of bread, meat, and fruit, along with jugs of wine.

"Perfect," Feyl said. Many Kor'daera had small appetites, but he certainly wasn't one of them. He waved Dorlan away before the bodyguard could give him the expected reminder.

"It's fine, Dorlan--the food is not poisoned."

Xaviera and Miniya gave each other suspicious looks, wondering why he would make a special point of saying the food wasn't poisoned. Xaviera shrugged, deciding that he probably wouldn't lie.

Marvilian analysed the food and drink for a minute with his electronic eye. He detected no poisonous chemicals in the food and drink so he lowered his gas mask and took a cup of wine.

Nolani looked at the food, her stomach growling. Threng took no precausions as he practically lunged for the food. Nolani felt a tiny surge of guilt. Her kind by nature had a small appitite. The same could not be said for Threng. When was the last time they ate? She shook the thought out of her head as she sampled the bits of cheese and meat.

Throughout Feyl's speech, Aedhon had been listening with waxing interest. He'd heard tales of the Gohl and the Fourth Archway, but to be part of a quest in these proportions filled him both with apprehension and anticipation at the knowledge he might gain.

He stole a glance at Garex. The lean Guardian, his arms folded across his enchanted chainmail, had his customary scowl in place. But beneath that hard expression ran an undercurrent of curiousity that hinted that his attention had also been piqued.

As the servants brought the food in, he took the time to study his potential companions. Their faces ranged from suspicious to accepting. His gaze fell upon the grey-eyed Kor'daera they called Feyl. Sensing a kindred spirit, he moved over with the words, "Greetings. I am Aedhon, and this is" - here Garex's scowl intensified by a threefold, and Aedhon hurriedly bit off the human's name before it left his mouth - "...my antisocial Guardian, who prefers his identity to remain unknown lest he be poisoned in his sleep."

Eshtok had listened intently to Feyl's speech, getting some idea of what he was meant to do. The thoughts were driven from his head, though, when the food came. He eagerly helped himself to meat and bread, and poured a glass of wine.

Gwyria surveyed the food indifferently and moved to assess the human, Alex. Her general opinion of guardians were that they were nuisances, even with her scuffle in the crown beforehand. She sighed inwardly and moved around the table to hold out a small hand to him. "I'm Gwyria, then."

Karina took a good serving of food and started to survey the others. Making sure their appearances and storing them in her memory.

Lol, LDM. Your Guardian sounds exceptionally paranoid.

----

Feyl felt his eyes widen in surprise. "You are the Aedhon?" he asked. "The one who has been gossiped about so much in the last few years? I've heard so much about you," he said, the smile on his face looking almost disbelieving--he couldn't believe he was meeting the man who was to all appearances the most clumsy and bumbling Mage alive.

"Did you really release a fire elemental in Ken'this instead of starting a fire in your furnace?" he asked eagerly. He had a chance to hear for himself just what stories about this man were true and which weren't.

The weighing look in the eyes of Aedhon's Guardian puzzled Feyl, and he looked over his shoulder to see Dorlan watching the other Guardian with an equally measuring glance. Hopefully they wouldn't succumb to that woeful human trait and try to prove who was superior. Aedhon probably wouldn't like having a crippled Guardian. Still, whether or not the Guardians got off well, Feyl had some questions for this mage. The said mage could ask his own questions later on.

Alex took the hand and shook it gently, aware of the size difference in hands. "Nice to meet you." he smiled. Even though it was'nt his nature, he had to be kind to his master. "How was your journey?"

If one happened to be watching Aedhon's face at that moment, one would have noticed quite an interesting array of facial expressions in the next two seconds. First he was pleased - was he really that renowned? Second he was puzzled - who in their right minds would want to gossip about him? Third he was disappointed - and he'd trusted the citizens of Ken'this, who'd told him their lips were sealed.

He began to scowl, then realized that scowling was Garex's trademark and that they'd look quite the pair, scowling side by side. Instead he attempted an unperturbed smile, which by all odds must have resulted in a rather taut lockjaw. "I did that on purpose," he protested, referring to an incident in which the roaring fire elemental had swept rampant through Ken'this, sending townspeople running for their lives. "It was a dull town. I was trying to make events a bit more colorful."

(LMD, you are an amazing writer, I just want to point that out. Your posts are great!)

Nolani, having finished her light snack began to make her way to Feyl. He was, after all, the one in charge. She had only made it a scant foot when Threng caught up to her. “ I just can’t get past you, can I?” She laughed. Threng smiled back. He loved his miss, and couldn’t bear to see any harm to come to her. There were just so many people here. He glanced around, peering at every face in the room. If there was a sould that would dare hurt his Nolani, they would pay.

Having successfully escorted her to Feyl, Threng stood aside. Nolani stepped forward, but stopped short when she saw he was already preoccupied with another guest. Murmuring an apology she stepped aside to wait her turn.
