"I saw we get a move on. You'll have to learn how to ride as we go, expect some muscle pain tomorrow. Do you know how to weild a sword Master Hobbit?" Dark said as she swung Chonara around in a zig-zag pattern, warming her up for the days ride. Chonara did a little bit of some fancy dressage moves, then settled back into a comfortable walk.

Lahiriel glanced with respect at the rider. She could weild both sword and bow at expert levels. "I agree with Dark. We've no time to waste." she said, pausing the white mare. She patted her mount's neck with appreciation.

"Never used it...m'lady," admitted Ilberic, remembering the title, with a bashful duck of his curly-haired head. All these Elves made him shy. Merry told stories of Galadriel, Lady of Lothlorien, and he wondered in sudden wide-eyed amazement if any of these Elves knew her.

Meldawen wrote:
"I-I-Ilberic B-B-Brandybuck," stuttered the hobbit as he was bounced energetically up and down, snatching frantically for the reins. Rescuing himself from tipping off sideways, he grinned sheepishly. "Y'might know my cousin, Merry. 'E's my second cousin, actually."

Fhina chuckled, then smiled at him. "Really? Well isn't that somethin', though I've ne'er met master Brandybuck m'self. Heard stories about 'im though."

"Mistress Fhina, Master Ilberic! Are you prepared to ride?" called Lahiriel, still circling.

Morcun rode near the back of the group, keeping to himself. He smiled when Ilberec talked while on her pony, who had a bouncy gait. Morcun patted his bay stallion, and was glad he had a smooth gait, unlike his sire...

Lahiriel frowned with concern as Terithuil came to a halt, limping terribly. Leaping from the horse's back, she quickly took the saddle and saddle bags from her back to eliviate the pressure on her. Running her hands along the horse's legs to feel for breaks, she gasped as she felt an abnormality on her right hind leg. Sighing, she drew upon her healing power to repair the wound.

(I'll try not to use Aerter too much in this... but shes just so temptign to ride...)

Dark watched Ilberic, suddenly she looked grim.

"Mischief will get us nowhere." She said harshly. "When we stop tonight, you Master Hobbit will learn how to use it."

Dark watched in concern as Lahiriel's horse started to limp.

Ilberic's mouth was open to reply to Lahiriel when Dark's sudden change of mood caught him completely off guard. "A-aye, m'lady," he stammered, bashful, and made an attempt to spur on the placidly munching Bill.

Lahiriel smiled as she concentrated her healing on the broken bone. "That is good," she said as she stood. "I shall teach you how to use a sword if you would wish."

"We will take turns to teach him, a variety of teachers helps you to be able to defeat any opponent. Having one teacher whom only teaches one style often gets you nowhere."

Dark spurred Chonara past Ilberic and Bill and set a fast trot, heading ut of the city.

After another few attempts to urge his placid pony on, Ilberic managed to coax a gentler ambling trot out of Bill, and hoped his apprehension about weapons didn't show on his round hobbit face. Weapons were severely frowned upon back home, and the men of Gondor's Guard chuckled at the thought of a halfling - a holbytla - wielding any sort of arms. So Ilberic really had not thought that any skill would be needed.

But these Elves! He thought uneasily. Never had he met elves before, and he thought them a strange lot, to be sure.

Dark swung back around, and came up beside Bill.

"Lasto Bill. You must hurry. You'll get a nice fat bag of carrots if you speed up and get us to our first stop before tomorrow." Dark watched the pony. Chonara nickered a challenge to the pony and swung back around, moving into a swift gallop.

Bill sped up for about forty paces and then settled back into a placid trot, which still was a decided improvement on his previous snail's pace. Ilberic looked as if he might fall off if the pony went any faster, so this was likely fortunate.

Fhina clutched the smoke-colored mane of the gelding tightly as Leuwynn nudged the horse forward into a loping canter to catch up with the others.

(omg! Meldawen doesn't have a Will/Liz sig set *dies of astonishment*)

Chonara whinnied and continued her fast gallop through the city, being careful to wind her way through unwary civilians and milita.
