You'll only need it if he holds his head high , just high, if you do ...uh i think roping and steer wrestling, but if he tosses his head when you check him to slow him down or when you break then you need a tie down.
and i guess its sorta like a martingale .....

I fell off! MY trainer had us do no stirrup work and i was on an 18 hh thoroughbred and we were circling at the canter and he broke into his long, not smooth trot and I kinda just fell off! I was going to ride my baby, Bizmark (i've been riding him for 3 years) but his back is hurting so i had to ride Shivago.

I almost fell off Dancer a couple of times, but it's always a good thing to be alert in the saddle. Horses are truley unpredictable animals. I got a question, dose anyone know where to find a nice cheap, but good shape lycra hoodie. I really need one. The ones I have checked out on www.rods. com, www.smithbrothers.com and I can't find a nice cheap one for about $20.00. I even checked the swap meet last Sunday, but the only one I found was $30.00.

I just got to try out a horse that was for sale that was 17 HH. He was grey and has a hole in his neck that he breaths though. It was really weird, but he can jump and is a great mover.

Oh can I join the Horse Club? =D
I have a Morgan and I'm an english rider but I play pony club mounted games... they are the funnest thing ever invented... =P
You are on a team and you play all sorts of different relay races including skills like vaulting on and offyour pony, dunking a ball in a bucket while at a gallop, picking a ring off a pole with a sword while you gallop by, picking a tennis ball off a 18" traffic cone while you gallop by, and of course pole bending but if you knock over a pole, you've got to get off and fix it! =P Yup Games rulz....

EifishGirl I love your banner.
The macarena is were you use pole bending poles that are about 2-2.5 feet apart all over the area in a random patteren. The rider goes though to middle on to poles, go though the patteren to the song "the macarena." Rider with the fastess time wins. Its alot harder than it sounds!

Now that sounds like fun! I think my favorite game on horse back is the panty hose race. U take a pair of panty hose and u and another person take a leg then you walk, trot, and lope around a barrel The person who crosses the finish line first wins.
