[being unstalking thread]

@pirate: You've given me newfound hope. :P Although a Sparrabeth ending wouldn't make me hate the movie, it would make me rather sad... and downcast... and overall unhappy. :P

I would HATE a SparrowBeth ending so it's good to see a lot of people on this forum agree with me.

By searching other forums however, I have found that a lot of people are Sparrowbethers (either that or sheep). I just don't see how people want a Sparrowbeth ending. Will has been taken prisoner, arrested, sold to Davey Jones (by Jack Sparrow), whippped, attacked by the Kraken TWICE, and is now willing to sail to the ends of the earth to rescue the man he saw his fiance kissing and all for Elizabeth. (Well the last one could also be for his Dad but you catch my drift.)

I would KILL to have a man do all that for me.

*Takes a deep breath and calms down*. O.k my rant on Sparrowbethers is done.....for now.

I wholeheartedly agree Fair Rider. I hope when I get married it's to someone like Will :) All my friends think it'll end Sparrabeth not because they like the ship, but because they think Jack's the star and he has to get the girl. Eurgh. Not in my book. To remain the star in my mind Jack can't have some sappy romance.

But I trust potr's spoilers, and if potr says it'll end Willabeth...it'll end Willabeth :D

I agree with this. Johnny Depp has created a cinamatic icon as Jack Sparrow and for him to remain that way he doesn't have to 'get the girl'. If anything, I think it would destroy his charactor.

Yes. Jack's first and only love is the sea.

I don't really care either way. I'm not a fan of Will so I could care less if he and Elizabeth end up together or not. I'm sure the writers know what they are doing....maybe...hopefully..:P .

I would like a Norribeth ending just as much as a Willabeth one. He really deserves the girl.

I still vote for Dear William, I mean, Nori and Jack both talk of marrage and she kisses Jack ( :yuck: ) but Will is the only one that acts for love, like somone said before, he sprung a enemy from jail, stole a ship, sailed with pirates, nearly got his neck slit, got arrested, captured by cannibles, sold to Davy Lones, whipped by his father, gambled with his soul, fough nori and jack, got attacked by the kraken 2 times, and now he's going off the edge of the map just for love, mostly for lizzie but I credit some of that for lvoe of his father, still what has Jack done? Norington? not much....ok, this rant is now over, I'm sorry.

i have to agree. he's done so much. he's willing to give up elizabeth if it makes her happy......if thats not love i don't know what is.

and yes jacks love is really only for the see and he hasn't done anything to show he acually cares about anything but a ship..............and his hat of course :-D

but anyways W/E all the way!

Forgive me for playing devil's advocate, but I'm going to have to argue that James made the ultimate sacrifice for Elizabeth. He let go. Yes, arguably, Will is prepared to do the same, but James actually does it and then has to witness the results for himself. Even though he loves her deeply (and yes, he really does), he admits that Will is the better match for her. It hurts him and breaks him and (in my opinion) is largely responsible for his downfall, but he'd rather see her happy without him than miserable with him. Even if it costs him everything.

And I think James did just as much for Elizabeth, in his own way. Not only did he essentially devote an entire fleet just to finding her, he personally went on the voyage instead of focusing on managing things back in Port Royal. And then when he did find her and she requested Will's rescue as her "wedding gift", he knew that he was getting manipulated, yet he did it anyway. For her. (Note- if any of y'all have never watched the deleted scenes for CotBP, stop right now and go watch the one titled "Less Than Sincere." It's right after Liz accepts the proposal, and it's amazing.) And, as I said, he still let her go afterward, even though he had every right to demand that she honor their engagement. He tried just as hard as Will did; he just stayed inside the law while doing so.

Then in DMC, he has to watch her essentially throw away his gift (letting her be with Will) to flirt with the very man he holds responsible for ruining his life. And he still says nothing against her. If anything, he tries to warn her ("Did you ever wonder how you latest fiance ended up aboard the Flying Dutchman?"). And then he witnesses their reunion and passionate kiss and sees how happy Elizabeth is around Will.
This (click) to me looks like far more than "not much."

And, of course, he pays the ultimate ultimate sacrifice for her sake in AWE (it's a spoiler that's been brought up before, but last time I outright said it, it started a long stream of denial and such, so I won't).

Sorry if that sounds like a rant, but even though I ardently support Willabeth, I also ardently support Norribeth and would probably ship it before Willabeth if I thought it had any real chance of happening. James is a far better man than people give him credit for.

I have actually never thought of a Norribeth before. ^ What you said potr has really opened my eyes to that.

(God I hate time difference. You lot have really interesting conversations whilst I'm tucked up in bed. Not Fair!)

Lol, fair rider. Killing for it might just be the reason a man would have to do that for you--breaking you out of jail or whatnot. :P
