The ratings for DMC weren't terrible, Darky - it did incredible in the box office (if only because everyone liked CotBP so much) and it's been nominated for four Academy Awards. Granted, they're pretty peripheral ones, but still. I think AWE will do if not amazingly than respectably well, Pirates hasn't lost all credibility, far from it.
Personally, I would go see a PotC 4 and count the days until it, too, even if it was bad. I love Pirates What can I say?

I liked the lack of digital dubles... I mean lotr had some and it was fine, but sw had wayy to many...I think potc did well with CG.
Actually Dead Mans Chest won a BAFTA for the special effects. I totally agree. It probably means At Worlds End will be even bigger and better.
I CAN'T WAIT ANYMORE !!!!!

DMC broke records in the box office. Fans loved it and critics didn't. Just because the critics gave it a bad rating doesn't mean it didn't do well. Often times critics bash movies that are incredibly popular.

Didn't critics hate CotBP as well? Hmmm and now they've done a trilogy. Just shows what they know and that the arn't always right.

I agree! They did a terrific job with the CGI and I especially love the effects on Davy. It was brilliant

No no, it just did terrible with the CRITICS. It broke box office records, I think it's one of the only three movies ever to gross above 1 billion? And I don't think the general population did love it, everyone I talk to liked the first one better and was slightly peeved by the whole Jack/Elizabeth thing. But so many people liked CotBP that they went to see DMC.

It didn't do terrible i the box office it was the number 1 movie for 2006. It broke the $1 billion in the box office.
It did terrible with critics. The critics don't have anything to do with the box office.
Anyway...I've heard nothing of a trailer and I wouldn't be surprised if they are still working on the movie when it comes out .

You'd think there would be one since the premiere date is less than three months away.

One would think, but there's still no truly CONFIRMED date. The lastest rumor is March 2nd, but we really have no way of knowing. I'm sure part of it is the vast amount of CGI they're having to do for this film. They may simply not have anything done yet.
It's also a marketing thing. DMC is still selling well on DVD, and they don't want to over-promote. If people start getting advertisements for both movies, they might get overwhelmed. So..we'll just have to see. Surely they'll at least have one sometime in March...
