JF, You're welcome. Well, I must agree that it was utterly pointless but it was fun so I will swallow it.
Claire, is Brittish correct? Then Sawyer's American (southern to be exact). So I guess that that could pose a problem if he hasn't ever been to Brittian. Hmm, well I guess that Claire's mother could have come to America and then went back to Brittain to have Claire or that at some point Saywer could have went to Brittain and then came back to America...now that would throw everyone off track. It's so unlikely though. I say that they would never say something like that happened. I'm just come up with little ideas based off of what other posters else where have said and of course my own imagination. I didn't even think of the problem of nationality at first though to be honest. What's Jack then? I thought that he was American...? Oh deary me...is he Brittish, or American, or something else?
Okay now I have to ask one more thing what does everyone here call Little House on the Praire? I thought that everyone called it Little House but Kate made fun of Sawyer for that...so is that because it's just a southern thing and because Saywer is supposed to be and Josh Holloway, and myself are all from the south or was it that E. Lilly (Kate's portrayer) or the writters had their facts wrong? That's driving me insane not knowing why it was that Kate made fun of Saywer for calling it Little House...
Gilraen Ringeril, You dvr it too?! That's cool. I dvr it as well. However I usally can't wait until Thursday to watch it...I stay up way too late on Wensday night. lol When do you usally get to watch it?

Psssh...well, I didn't think it was a pointless episode. I thought it was brilliant!
Ha ha ha!
Awww...well, I suppose I'm alone in that. *sigh* Oh well, Hurley and Charlie are my men!!
I agree with DD, when all four guys were in the van...*squees* See, I like Sawyer in these kind of elements. When he's being a crazy jerk.
EDIT: Claire is Austrailian.

Thou art not alone in that!! This episode was, to me, what Lost is all about... people. Not big scientific conspiracy theories, not ethical battles of the will, and not even the drool-worthy men. (shocking, I know. )
People.
And Hurley is the one to do it. Like he said, after all that's happened (this season), we all need some fun!
This episode was getting us to get our feet firmly planted on the ground again, to remember that despite all the crazy things going on, this show is all about our beloved Losties.
Remember, just because there were no huge plot twists or shocking revelations, that does not mean an episode is pointless. This season, the plot has been running the rapids, so to speak; every episode has been a hang-on-to-your-hats wild ride with hardly a moment to breathe. And this episode is where we got past the rapids and slowed down for a little, giving us time to catch our breaths.
The plot still moved forward- Sawyer and Kate made it home, we're still wondering if Des is right about Charlie (BAH!), and look who is gonna be helping our losties get Jack back!
I think this episode rocked...

I suppose I should have re-phrased it.....pointless flashback perhaps? I mean, in the beginning the flashbacks were telling us what we needed to know about our Losties, who they were, where they came from, why they were in Australia. From what I've seen of LOST, there seems to be very little else we can find out about the Losties, that actually bears relevance to the whole story.
I'm glad the Losties seemed to be back to normal, but once again they have proven to be doing things that neither me or you would do.
For instance. Kate and Sawyer were kidnapped by the Others, and both had pretty unpleasant experiences and they left without Jack. Back on the island "yay! you're back!" and then Sawyer takes a joy-ride in a car. Has anyone noticed that when bad things happen to the Losties, the reaction is weird? I mean Hurley comes back, says Kate, Jack and Sawyer have been taken by the Others, Locke says he'll get the back.....and in LOSTLand it's another day. Claire was kidnapped "oh, we'll look for her in a half-hearted fashion, come back and jut wait until she *hopefully* returns*.
I mean I'm happy they are happy.....but if I was on that island.....I'd have a few things to say about how things are run.....

I really liked the end!
omg i feel so sorry for little hurley in the flashback when i saw his dad with that pack on i knew he was leaving him..that part was sad!
think that this episode was kinda boring though, maybe because we have had so many action packed ones recenltey..
oh yeah JF i found a ME fanpage and i was looking at ME autographs he was nice handwriting. i wish i had his handwriting  JF do you fan mail your actors?

Well, we have yet to see whether or not this flashback proves to be useful. The flashbacks were really heartbreaking...and really, really fleshed out Hurley a bit more.
And I don't think it was all, "Yay! You're back! = joy ride" stuff.
Gah, hard to explain it...but, I think you, miss JF, just need to see the episode and decide for yourself.
Hurley is just the kind of character...the kind of person that wants to see people happy. And that's what he does. He gets Charlie from being all moppy...and gets Jin...and gets Sawyer (which you KNOW is depressed after leaving Jack...seriously, he is!) to help.
And I think it's so weird to see people being all...normal...they've been there for like 50 or so days...knowing that you're going to be living on that island...you can't stay all..."action" oriented. You know what I'm saying? They've gone through some crazy ... stuff. I think, to not go crazy, they have to force themselves to lead a somewhat normal lifestyle. After 50 days, I think you'd be doing the same.
And I liked the change...no more Jack/Kate/Sawyer/Others. Back to the heart of what Lost is. As Arsa so wonderfully put it, PEOPLE.

Well Hurley's flashback did tell us why he went to Australia. So it wasn't as pointless as Jack's was, wich was about his lame tattoos . Sorry that episode really pissed me off lol.

Yeah, I get what your saying Monty, but even before series 3 started, after certain things that happened, I've turned and said to my brother "why aren't they bothered about what just happened?" or "have people forgotten what happened"....you know...some of the reactions are a little strange....and I just kinda expect similar reactions when anything happens now...
I mean one of the weirdest storylines EVER in LOST, was the battle Jack had, in getting people moved to the caves....you need to move off the beach....we don't want to move....you need to.....and then when most actually did move......we haven't seen anything of the caves since the beginning of series 2, and those who seemed to have been in the caves are now back at the beach.... ...I love LOST, but I can't say it's the most perfect show out there..... ...
Hmmm...didn't Hurley go to Australia to see the man who first heard the numbers through his radio, who then used the numbers to count beans in a jar, became rich, believed he was bad luck and moved with his wife into a little shack in the middle of Australia?

OK, I've finally watched it!! W00t w00t! It was an awesome episode, if I do say so myself! (Oh, and DD - was it you that asked? - yes, I DVR my episodes, and I always watch them on Thursdays )
OK, so I have to agree that this episode didn't really 'add' anything to the plot too much, but I think it was such a great episode because it was really happy and funny! Like when Sawyer and Jin were drunk, and then Sawyer taught Jin the only 3 things you never need to say to a woman "I'm sorry", "You were right", and "Those pants don't make you look fat!"!!! *dies laughing* And Jin repeated them but had no idea what he was saying! LOOOOOOL! *dies again*
And when Sawyer, Jin, Charlie, and Hurley were all just driving around in the car that was so....HAPPY! They were all smiling and laughing and I was like "Yay! Some fun for a change" It's like Hurley said; after all they've been through, they need some fun!
The only sad part of the episode was at the beginning, when Hurley was talking to Libby's grave I wanted to cry! And at the end, when Sawyer, Jin, and Charlie went back to camp, and Jin/Sun were talking and smiling and so were Charlie and Claire, but Sawyer looked around (like he was looking for Kate) and she wasn't there I think he really loves her! They need to solve these problems!
So anyway A different thought here - I definitely think that Claire is NOT IN ANY WAY related to Sawyer, especially not his daughter! They are MUCH to close in age! [/end random thought]
So this week was awesome! I think that's all I can think of typing right now And next week's preview looks great too!
