Lol, Nauriel--an Archaeologist with a P-90 and a Claymore? That's hilarious. I'm glad you didn't go with that.

gerardluver, I think all the spots are taken, unless Elegost decides to permit another character.

P-90, claymore, barreta, C-4...I learned all my guns and weapons from Stargate, and there's an archeologist on that show. He has quite a few guns.

I don't have any inspiration for an intro post for Aemon right now, so I'm going to wait a post or two to see if there're any interesting things in them that I can turn to my own purposes. :vampire:

((^that's one of my fave episodes! Anyway, I'll give a go at starting))

A dry, hot wind blew down the Cairo streets, raising clouds of dust. A small whirlwind spun sand into a funnel before it died out.

That could be sand from the pyramids. Neil Paterson thought, staring out the window. Maybe it was part of the pyramids once, part of a huge block, put there by tireless workers. Then the forces of nature came along, wearing down the pyramid until those grains of sand came loose, rushing down to join the sands of time and...

Neil yawned. What a load of rubbish. he thought.

He turned his eyes from the window, back to the computer screen in front of him. An enhanced picture of hyroglyphics sat there patiently, waiting for him. Neil sighed and rubbed a hand over his eyes. He was too tired to concentrate.

The Scotsman picked up the telephone that connected different rooms in the building. He punched the button that would let him talk to the other archaeologists in the building.

"How's it going?" he asked anyone who happened to answer the phone.

Ardra turned her head to one side, staring at the leak in her world. She looked around to see if any other residents of the Otherworld were watching, her curiousity drawing her closer and closer. She took one final look around, checking to make sure no one saw what she was about to do. The spirit slipped through the opening with her eyes closed.
She kept them closed as she entered the new land. Something similar to fear began to wash over her. What if this place was like the Underworld? She took a deep breath, then opened her blue eyes to face whatever dangers this new place offered.

Whoever answered the phone, it would not be the recently-awakened Aisha Mahmud. She regarded the machine, Neil's voice temporarily issuing from it, with an air of distaste. Honestly. A Scottish archaeologist? What could a Scotsman know about ancient Egypt?

Aisha rubbed her eyes. Lack of sleep did not make for a good mood. Rolling off her futon she stumbled in the general direction of her computer, stopping on the way to start a pot of extremely strong coffee. Why on earth couldn't there be Egyptian archaeologists who actually knew what they were talking about? Aisha prided herself on being Egyptian through and through, right down to the last charcoal-black hair on her currently very tousled head.

Aemon smiled to himself. This world was so different from the Otherworld, and yet it was so similar. He had never before experienced a dry wind like this, but the sand beneath his feet felt familiar, and the heat was delicious. The sunlight reflected off of almost everything, magnifying itself until he could actually feel the power it was putting in him. Sunlight was the most amazing thing about this world. Why was there no such thing in the Otherworld? There, everything was illuminated by its inhabitants. Aemon had no doubt that when he returned, his glow would be far greater than that of anyone else, merely because of the sunlight.

He stretched his wings, then cracked his neck. That was something new, too. In his noncorporeal form, he obviously was unable to do things like that. This corporeal form was magnificent, though--the sensations were so much more vivid. He could feel the heat from the sand soaking in through his feet, he could feel the hot breeze on his face, and the dust starting to coat him. Truly, this was marvelous. He looked up, and there was the marvelous blue sky, so different from the iridescent one in the Otherworld, and the golden sun. He would be able to enjoy himself here for a long time--or rather, he should be able to, except that when he had slipped through the leak from the Otherworld, he had noticed something else--there was a leak from the Underworld, too, one that mortals probably couldn't see, but it was plainly obvious to any of his kind.

The thought creased his brow in a frown. If there were twisted spirits being loosed upon this world, then its beauty would not be so beautiful. It would be diminished, until it became a desolate ruin. That shouldn't be allowed to happen. He wouldn't let it.

Aaron, and his untidy head of blonde hair, strolled into the kitchen to start his favorite part of any living space - the coffee maker. The resisdent zombie watched impatiently as the dark brown liquid slowly began to drip down into the glass pot, and was soon being lulled back to sleep staring at the repetitve sight. His eyes began to waver shut, and he promptly fell back onto the arm of the couch that, luckily, was behind him.

But then, to his mind's everlasting horror, a noisy, high-pitched ringinng brought him shooting up from his current possition with wide eyes. Aaron seemed more awake now. It was almost as if he could feel the blood begining to flow faster and faster. Looking at his army wristwatch, accurate to the thousandth of a second, his eyebrows raised for a brief second.

0h.7m.12.895s... New record! Aaron quickly and silently celebrated his new waking-up record, and proceded to pick up the phone after he heard Neil's voice on the other end.

"Hello? Neil?" He paused to cough and glance at the coffee maker, which was now begining to fill. "What in the name of everything beautiful possesed you to wake us up at-" He checked his watch, "One in the morning?!" He talked loudly into the phone, ignoring the fact that his watch -and his body- were still set for american central time.

"What're you talkin' about?" Neil said to Aaron. "It's past 9." He reached for his cup of coffee, left sitting on the table, and took a sip. He grimaced. It was lukewarm.

Aaron groaned. He had forgotten about the time change. How, he didn't know for sure, but he had.

"Oh... Yeah, right.... Sorry for yelling at you, but I wouldn't normally be up for at least another 4 hours... What time do they expect us at the site, dig ready?"

"No problem." Neil walked towards the microwave, phone propped on one shoulder. "We're supposed to be there at 10 a.m. 'sharp', according to the dig director." He put his coffee cup in the microwave and punched the 30-second button.
