Rachel smiled a bit also. "I'm not much that different from most people." she said. She suddenly stepped back in alarm, hearing scuffles and grunts near her.

It was like playing football with weapons.

Ariel rolled off of Jimmy, the knife still at her throat, and the gun still clutched in her hand. She was sweating profusely, and kept cursing under her breath. For a minute, everything had come to a calm.

Roy gave a comforting squeeze to Mark's shoulder, but addressed Ariel, stepping forward as he did so.

"Let the gun go," he said calmly, "It's not worth getting your throat slit over. I swear I won't let him kill you if you let it go."

The girl was terrified, and half-crazed with what she had seen. She glared defiantly at Kai, still holding the gun in a deathgrip, and gritting her teeth. The point of the sword pricked her skin... and she tensed up.

"Let it go," Roy repeated, stepping forward, and kneeling down close. She closed her eyes, and slowly, one by one, detached her fingers from the weapon. She was just about to fully release it when she whispered hoarsely...

"Swear to me you won't kill me. Swear it."

"I swear it."

She released it and Roy snatched it up, putting it in his back pocket. There had been so much time wasted in this fight... they would have to hurry to escape this building which was due to fully explode at any minute.

Rachel smiled too. "Thanks." she said, then moved in front of Mark as he held on to her arm.

She heard somebody say, "Swear to me you won't kill me. Swear it.", and another respond, "I swear it." The room went quiet. Rachel took a deep breath. Hopefully the fight was over.

At Areil's words Kai slotted the knife back into his jacket. He turned to Roy. "My names Kai and this is Hannah." he indicated the girl behind him. "The aleian is on the other side of that tunnle, what do you propose?" he was back in control of his fears agian, thankfully.

Hannah was sitting there, hurled up and leaning to the wall, her face burried in her hands. She looked up as the fight stopped, her face was wet from tears. She looked at the people around her with a scared look, trembling all over. "Go...go...no matter where to...we need to go...it will get us...we need to leave now...it will get us..."

"No it WON'T get us," Roy shot back emphatically. "We're going to make it through this okay Hannah, we just need to stay together and-" here he turned and stared straight at Ariel, "-help one another."

The girl scowled haughtily in return, folding her arms across her chest in a position of defiance.

"We need to get out of here, out of this building..." he continued, "There are chemicals above us, and once they completely blow -which could be any minute- they will utterly destroy this building, to the foundations! If we go through the sewage, we have the best chance of escape."

He strode over to Mark, and knelt down smiling at him softly. "Do you think you can lead her for me?"

"You got a better idia kid?" aksed Kai of Jimmy. "Sounds fine to me, the sewage will cover our scent and even if the place dosn't blow that things gonna get through here sooner or later...come on Hannah" he pulled her to her feet and put his arm round her.

"And since when have you helped us in any way?!" Roy shot back. He was getting uncharacteristically edgy, and whatever leadership he had in him was struggling to surface.

Ariel began walking to the sewers, not about to wait for everyone else to come bumbling along. She made her way to the edge and paused. The stench was killing.

"You expect US to go waltzing through THAT?!" she demanded of Roy, gagging simultaneously.

Roy nodded, and took of the cover, as wafts of the foul smell hit them. Suddenly he couldn't help himself, and he smiled as he said, "Ladies first," extending an arm to help Ariel down. She slapped him.

Hannah looked down into the dark sewers and had to close her eyes. It seemed like an endless tunnel to her, leading into nowhere. She breathed in deeply, she was scared of what could wait for them down here, but she knew there wasn't another way. "We...we have to go down" she whispered more to herself, facing the floor. her voice was full of fear. "We...we're not save here. We have to go..."
