Jack Sparrow suddenly found this conversation interesting and so he stepped in, peering up at Barbossa with an angry pulled up lip.

"If I had a shilling for every time I heard that…" he muttered almost to himself. "Must ye be so dishonest?" he asked the old-faced pirate.

"Captain Jack Sparrow…..Captain of The Pearl...my ship..mine," he countered miserably, shaking his head in annoyance and rolling his heavily-darkened eyes. He had specified once before to Barbossa that he was not just a "mister", he was the Captain of his ship, a dramatic, swashbuckling, greedy genius who happened to consume more rum that entirely necessary. So when will that bloody man named Hector finally understand that he was the real Captain who ever was of The Black Pearl.

"As I was sayin'," Barbossa repeated, his eyes flashing dangerously, "I be captain of my own ship. I liberated 'er from 'er previous, incompetent captain."

Will walked besides Elizabeth with his blanket wrapped tightly around his body. How much farther was this elven realm? The cold was becoming extremely bitter.

"Elizabeth, are you all right? How are you feeling?" Will asked caringly.

Frodo walked behind Aragorn and next to Sam. With his forest green hood over his curly head, he shivered and shuddered at the increasing cold.

Frodo dared not complain, but he turned to Sam and said, "It's so cold, Sam."

Jack rocked forward on the heels of his boots leaning in so close to Barbossa, he almost kissed the man.

"Incompetent Captain? Incompetent Captain?!" Jack shouted holding his hands up in the air like he was on the verge of playing a piano.

Not only extremely taken aback by this sudden contention betwixt the two pirates, Boromir was also a bit alarmed at what he had started. He glanced back towards Gandalf with eyebrows arched in a confused manner, but Gandalf payed attention to nothing but the horizon.

"I meant no harm by the question friend," he said to Jack, forcing a smile, "Only desired to know of what trade you were." He stared for a moment into the agitated man's eye's, and turned back to keep in stride with the rest of the company.

Sam nodded, shivering violently. "It is that, Mr. Frodo. Cold's nice an' all when you've got hot tea and a warm blanket; but climbin' up a mountain in it isn't much for fun."

Gandalf brought up the rear of the company; letting Aragorn find the trail in this extreme weather, and desiring as well to keep an eye on all the going ons. There seemed to be a bit of a miff between those two pirates, but nothing serious. Like two hobbits, fighting over a meal he thought wryly...

"Fine." said Elizabeth without looking up at him. The cold did not bother her unduly, as she was preoccupied with rather more pressing matters. Every word Barbossa and Jack said, to each other or not, made her strain anxiously to hear. She didn't trust either of them to keep secret...though perhaps Barbossa retained a shred more common sense in the long run, at least when it concerned his own well-being.

((sorry I posted lately))

Gimli strode on, stoutly ignoring the cold and the snow. He still didn't trust the strange people, but he was willing to tolerate them for a time.

"Jack...have ye forgotten which one o' us has had her for the past decade?" Barbossa replied condescendingly, obviously already growing bored of the conversation. "If ye can't hold onto a ship, ye didn't deserve to have 'er in the first place. T'was a valuable lesson you needed to learn, an' I was only more than happy to do my part."

Will looked away from Elizabeth with a slight embarrassed expression. Seeing that she did not acknowledge him by making eye contact, Will supposed that she was either too cold to speak or she had no interest in him.

With his breath showing through white puffs of smoke, he continued up the mountain, hating every moment of it.
-----------------------------------------------

"I agree, Sam," Frodo said through chattering teeth. The aching sensation in his feet was almost unbearable and now the snow was falling harder and piling higher.

"Keep moving, Sam. We have to keep moving or we'll freeze to death," Frodo said almost to himself.

Jack's face cocked in frustration. "Well, techincally the Black Pearl was given to me! Therefore she be mine! Therefore, meanin' I'm the Captain of my ship that was given to me because I am the Captain of the ship that was given to me!"

Jack threw out his arms to the sides like a crazed scarecrow and he continued to lean himself more into Hector's old whithered face as he shouted these unsual choice of words.

Aragorn continued to walk silently at the head of the group, wincing slightly every time the younger pirate shouted. Though he'd never admit it, he was almost beginning to regret allowing him to accompany them. Finally, he turned around to address the problem. "If you are going to insist upon arguing the entire journey, Captain, please at least refrain from alerting all of Middle-earth to our presence," he said quietly but firmly. "You're free to talk as you wish, but the mountains do have a way of echoing, and your shouting is doing us no good."

At Aragorn's calm words, Boromir's head hung slightly. Partially in relief that the argument had stopped, and also to hide the jealously at Aragorn's ept ability to resolve even the strangest of conflicts.

They had been walking for a matter of hours now. The snow was beginning to billow about them madly, frantically, without pity; and the Caradhras seemed to be at her most steep and harsh, in dismay of their intrusion.

Gandalf pressed up, still with questions at his mind, but it was too cold now for conversations. Even the Ranger was showing signs of freezing, much less the hobbits who had never ventured out in such frigid temperatures. He used the staff partly as support now, for the path was steep as well as snow banked. Once glance in the way of the pirates showed that they, too, were unexposed to this sort of extremity.

To Sam, it seemed as if they should be at the end of their quest already - so long had they been walking. A weary and monotonous sort of walk too: not by pleasant streams or in sunny fields. It was cold and dismal and grey now, and up ahead it seemed freezing and tragic and black. He didn't even have the heart to keep up pace with Frodo now... but lagged behind.

Will's teeth chattered uncontrolably. It felt as if his blood had frozen within his body. With his lips severly chapped and snowflakes clinging to his eyebrows and eyelashes, he turned to Elizabeth and said, "We...n-n-need to g-get off this mountain..."
-----------------------------------------------------------

Frodo was huddled in his cloak as he tried to hide behind Aragorn's tall frame as the snow and ice cold wind swept toward him. The snow was becoming too deep for him to keep up. His feet and legs felt numb and his fingers felt like they would fall off any second.

Trying to shout as loud as he possibly could, Frodo yelled, "Aragron! I can't go any further! Sam is lagging behind as well! The snow is too deep!"

Whether it was the cold, Aragorn's words, or whatever else it was, Jack had stopped the argue and fuss with Barbossa. Temporarily to be exact.

The pirate's tan skinned had lost some of it's colour in the cold and his dreads now looked like white snakes blowing in the wind. Snowflakes had found themselves into his boots and started biting away at his toes. This was getting irritating.

"Let's make a deal.." said Jack peering an eye up at Barbossa in a cold, tensed voice, "Let's ye and I find another way and get out of this white bloody piece of land...savvy?"
