Katherine stared at Edward in awe. Well, at least she thought that it was Edward. He looked so different now. His scissors were gone and he looked more human than before. She couldn't believe her eyes. She was so happy, that she felt tears reach her eyes. She slowly covered her gaping mouth with her hand.

Doctor Howard glimmered a smile, "Gone!"
He then decided that the boy should be called Edward Hands, and so it was. Edward Scissorhands, a mechanical, razor- bladed "perversion of nature" was now Edward Hands, a shy long-lost distant cousin who has come to live with the Boggs.
Howard had fabricated a whole story about Edward's life, and Howard was such a convincing liar; Edward himself was starting to believe that he really was a long-lost cousin.
"That about covers it, I guess." Doctor Howard said, "Is that story understable for you-Timothy, Katherine, and Lucy?"
Edward gave the Doctor a confused look. 'That's not Lucy...' Edward thought, as he felt his eyes widen, 'She's not Lucy. She's another Lucy.' His eyes then sunk down to his shoes, confused. The person peering at him was an eleven-year-old—not the small eight-year-old girl Edward had known.

Lucy did not care much for the story....to be quite honest, she did not listen to much of the story anyway....she was much to focused on Edward. Her soft brown eyes never left his face.
As soon as the doctor had finished talking, Lucy walked up to Edward with a soft smile and said, "Hello, Edward. I'm so sorry that we never took you home, but you see....we thought you were dead. And now, you're alive." Her hand reached out to hold his hand, but she pulled it back, "Is it ok if I touch it?"

Katherine slowly nodded to Howard and then looked over to Timothy, still quite astonished about everything. She just couldn't believe what she was seeing, as she had looked over Edward. It was... a miracle. She looked back to Edward and smiled a little, keeping her hand over her mouth.

Doctor Howard placed a hand on Lucy's shoulder, "Lucy, don't be forward. To him, all of you are new strangers."
Edward stared. It was hard not to be a little shocked on how much Lucy Boggs had grown in three years. There was not one trace of the little tot left, it had been washed away by a new, slender young girl.
Edward couldn't find the courage to answer. It was silent for a long time.

The doctor angered Lucy a little. She continued to speak to Edward in a soft loving voice, "Edward, please tell me that you remember me. That you remember us together? Playing in the backyard? Decorating the Christmas tree? Watching t.v. together on mom's couch at home?"
Her eyes were pitiful and they began to water gently with love. "Edward, please.....tell me..." She reached out to touch his new pale white hand.

Katherine watched Lucy and Edward closely. She hoped that Edward remembered her little girl. She sighed and slowly let her hand fall from her mouth. She slowly looked over to Timothy, still in sheer amazement. She didn't know what to say.

Frightened, Edward flinched back and brought his hands up towards his face. He didn't want to hurt the little flower...not like he had hurt Jim.
"You said it would be a short time!" Timothy said, rather upset by seeing the dead come alive again.
"Never ask a scientist about time! To us, a thousand years is nothing at all!" Doctor Howard returned, nastily.
"You could have told us Edward was alive!" Timothy shouted, outraged, "To save us all the anxiety! Oh, I should've known..."
"Tell you?" Howard said, coolly, "The phone could've been bugged! And I finished Edward, didn't I? Aren't you happy with that, at least?"
"No. You shouldn't have finished Edward at all." Timothy said, firmly, "You've broken the law, and put Edward, my family, and yourself in danger—can't you see that?"
"Are you serious?" The Doctor said, "We're the farthest thing from in danger! Edward's technically deceased, and I might as well be dead too! Death is safety!"
Timothy shook her head, disapprovingly, and he rubbed his temples, soothing a headache bubbling inside his head.
"I don't get any appreciation, do I?" Howard grunted.
Edward, stood in the background, alarmed, as he watched the two adults quarrel. They gave each other tense glances. He watched.
"You are all he has now..." Doctor Howard added, "Edward needs to adjust to his new hands. Simple tasks like picking up objects, writing, turing pages, not fidgeting, opening doors—if you do not wish to help him out, we must destory the evidence..."

Lucy jumped as well when Edward flinched. She did not reach out to Edward again, instead she just searched his memorable face gently.
Lucy could overhear the argument, but chose to ignore it, until she heard about helping Edward. Turning around to face her father, Lucy smiled, "Yes! We will help him! I will help teach him! He's coming home with us! Right daddy? Mom?"

Katherine watched Lucy closely when she asked her and Timothy about Edward. She would definitely say yes, but she didn't know what Timothy would say. She looked over to him once again and watched him closely. "Timothy?" She asked softly.

Timothy stood up, angry. "All right fine! But, the minute this piece of nuts and metal becomes another burden to this family...out it goes!"
Doctor Howard stared in shock. "Mr. Boggs, now, I am a man of science and I believe that-"
"Shutup!" Timothy shouted. "Lucy, Katherine, let's go. Grab that thing along the way..."
Whatever happened to Timothy that day would always remain a mystery to Lucy and Katherine. Something snapped.

Lucy jumped at her father's first shout at the doctor. With her eyes twitching nervously, she neared Edward and gently took his hands in hers, "It's ok, Edward. You'll be safe when we're home together."
Her smile appeared now showing the adult teeth that had grown in. Even though they were slightly crooked, they would be fixed with braces in the future...or so her parents said.
Lucy pulled softly and said, "Come on, Edward. Come with me."

Katherine was quite surprised at how Timothy had acted to the doctor. She looked to Dr. Howard and smiled a little. "Thank you..." She said softly and then quickly followed after Timothy. She lightly grabbed hold of his hand and held it in her own. "Sweetheart, what's wrong?" She asked him softly and looked up into his eyes.
