Check out the article I found a few days ago in the NYT.
http://travel.nytimes.com/2007/03/23/travel/escapes/23Ahead.html
It's about Tolkien fans and fantasy conventions.
Sadly, the only one near where I live sounds the least fun...:(

At least you're closer to those conventions than I am!!
Anywa, it could be fun to go to a LotR convention, but the only thing we got in my city is a sci-fi conventions and I don't want to be crowded by Trekkies in costumes and languanegs i don't understand...! :P

yeah we don't have many conventions here either. It would be sooo cool to be part of one I think.

We have something called the "Scandinavian Sci-Fi, Game & Film Convention" which is held 3 times a year in Stockholm, Malmö and Göteborg (since 1999) and even though it's only called the Sci-Fi convention there are plenty of Fantasy stuff there too and there is usually always a LotR actor there (along with other Fantasy/Sci-Fi actors). I've been to it several times and it's so awesome. Maybe the version you have there is the same? If not you could always go to the Malmö one since that's close to Denmark (I mean I've travelled the 3 hours to Stockholm for two conventions and 4,5 hours to Göteborg for one convention)!

There is one in Göteborg in April... Billy Boyd is going to be there and I am SOO pissed since I won't be in Sweden at the time :(

Hmm... yeah, I think there is going to be some fantasy stuff at the convention.. in fact I didn't do much research on it.. shame on me... I just assumed it would cost a lot of money and that I couldn't get anyone to go with me!! But thanks for the info! :-)
What do you actually do on conventions..?

I WANNA GO THEEEEEEERE! Whenwhenwhen? Obviously, I have neither time nor money enough to go, but I shall make it a day of sorrow and only wear black clothes the entire day. The thought of having Billy Boyd that close... *sigh* Oh, what a joy it would've been to go there...

Aww... I just saw a skit that included the lines: "he's so nerdy, he's constantly quoting the Lord of the Rings!" I was like, "You say that like it's a bad thing..."

Thank goodness someone appreciates us!
