Yeah... :'( Well, i can't say I wish he hadn't have been killed... because as much as I love him, a death in the Fellowship added so much drama and all to the story.

However, in the movie, I wish they would have had Faramir remembering him or something, so we would have got to see more of him in TTT and RotK.

I think its time we get a new activity going here. :P

Second Activity: List your favorite Boromir quotes from the book OR movie!

I'll have mine in later.

(VERY sorry for the double post, by the way.)

Ok, let's see.....
"This city was once the jewel of our kingdom. A place of light, music, and beauty and so it shall be once more. Let the armies of Mordor know this. Never again will the land of our people fall into enemy hands. This city of Osgiliath has been reclaimed for Gondor! For Gondor! For Gondor!"

"Gandalf's death was not in vain. Nor would he have you give up hope. You carry a heavy burden, Frodo. Don't carry the weight of the dead."

"I will find no rest here. I heard her voice inside my head. She spoke of my father and the fall of Gondor. She said to me "Even now there is hope left." But I cannot see it. It is long since we had any hope. My father is a noble man, but his rule is failing. And now our people lose faith. He looks to me to make things right and I would do it. I would see the glory of Gondor restored. Have you ever seen it Aragorn? The White tower of Ecthelion, glimmering like a spike of pearl and silver. Its banners caught high in the morning breeze. Have you ever been called home by the clear ringing of silver trumpets?"

"You were quick enough to trust the Elves. Have you so little faith in your own people? Yes, there is weakness. There is frailty. But there is courage also, and honor to be found in Men. But you will not see that."

"I would have followed you, my brother. My captain. My king."

Shameless bumping. It's all for the Boromir anyhow, so I don't feel bad. :P

Maybe there are some new Boromir fans hanging about her somewhere's that would like to join?

Anyhow, here are some of my favorite quotes. :D

"Why do you recoil, I am no thief?"

"You carry the fate of us all little one."

"Long has my father, the Steward of Gondor, kept the forces of Mordor at bay. By the blood of our people, are your lands kept safe."

"Well, when heads are at loss, bodies must serve, as they say in my country. The strongest of us must seek a way."

"Remember today little brother, today life is good"

^ I think it is the famous quote of Boromir.

"My place is here with my people, not in Rivendell"

I have a question. What is the use of horn when it is sounded? Okay I know it alarms but I think it has to be more than that. How come Boromir has it and any other fellowship or gondorian does not have??

Well... all I know about Boromir's horn is that every heir of the steward of Gondor owns it, so it's only Boromir who is the right owner... I know, I'm not really a good help here...

The Horn of Gondor was made by Vorondil during the Third Age, who made it out of oxen horn. After that, it kept being passed down to the Stewards of Gondor. It was an heirloom, really. The sound of this horn was supposed to frighten any who heard it, and maybe even strike them with fear. If the horn was heard ANYWHERE within the border of Gondor, the army would come to the aid of whomever blew it. Hope that answers your question!

It was like, tradition, for the eldest son of every steward to carry the horn on him.

:hiya: Of course you may join Nurr!!
*claps you on the back*

Welcome to our illustrious club! Pull up a chair, a mug of coco, and a horn of Gondor. :D

So, what are some of your favorite Boromir characteristics? Quotes?

We've already got quite the list on the first page... ehehehe... and a bit of mad fangirlism.

So I saw. :teehee: I think I must agree with some of the fangirlism...but it just can't be helped!

Ah, let's see...I love that he tries to save his people even with the forces of Mordor pushing against them all the time. And how he is good to Faramir, even though it would be so easy to be stuck up. He's such a great guy.

Quotes...I have to say I like all the ones said so far. One that makes me laugh every time is "They have a cave troll." Just the way he says it is great.

"My father is a noble man, but his rule is failing. And now our...our people lose faith. He looks to me to make things right and I would do it. I would see the glory of Gondor restored. Have you ever seen it Aragorn? White tower of Ecthelion, glimmering like a spike of pearl and silver. It's banners caught high in the morning breeze. Have you ever been called home by the clear ringing of silver trumpets?

One day, our paths will lead us there. And the tower guards shall take up the call: The Lords of Gondor have returned!"

^I love that quote. It seems to embody the spirit of Boromir -his helplessness at the fight against Mordor and men, his pride in his city, and his belief in Aragorn. Just amazing.

Thanx for your detailed explanations, Fm and Erana. I am glad that I have this question answered in mind from now on. It helped greatly.

You're more than welcome Cpt Faramir!

Nurr: "They have a cave troll!" LOL! Oh my... The way he says that! The first time I watched FotR I begged my nephew to rewind that scene numerous times... because it's so great! It's just as if all the gloom and doom mood goes out the door, because the way he says it is matter-of-fact... and almost happily! Haha!

Some more of my favorite books quotes...

"A power was there which we have not felt before. Some said it could be seen, like a great black horseman, a dark shadow under the moon."

"But Gondor stands, and even the end of its strength is still very strong."

"The name of Moria is black."

"I will NOT go. Not unless the whole vote of the company is against me."

That last one... kills me. Go Boromir! Oppose the whole fellowship in what you know to be right!

Yeah I absolutely loved that one. It's like hmmm, interesting, there's a cave troll. I think I can say that the way he said in the movie. I think I've got it in.

Hi All,
I just came across this thread and since I love Boromir so much, can I join?

As far as favorite quotes, I would have to say the 'They have a Cave Troll' is one of my favorites! Even have that as a sound byte as my computer at home shut down :) It is just they way he says it, it is just classic!

Another is this one: 'My father is a noble man, but his rule is failing.
And the tower guards shall take up the call: The Lords of Gondor have returned!'
It does really capture Boromir's spirit and how he wants so much to do what he can to help his people and how proud he is of Gondor and his city.

One of the many reasons why I love Boromir! And also how he and Faramir are so close and how he looks after him and all. Got to love that :D He is such a great, noble and just all around wonderful guy ! Love him to bits!
