I just realised two things about Arwen when I was reading the Silmarillion the other day. Everyone else probably knows this already, and they'll be like, "Der!" but oh well.
Here they are:
1) Arwen is part Maia. Not a very big part, admittedly, but it's still cool! Her great great great grandmother (I think that's the right amount of greats) was Melian the Maia.
2) That Arwen is related to Aragorn. Arwen's uncle, Elros (who chose to be numbered among men) was one of Aragorn's forefathers. So they would be cousins, removed about 50 (maybe more, I don't know, I didn't count) times. Is that right? Anyways, Aragorns would be so far away from Elros, that it's not gross. And that also means Aragorn is part maia, but even less than Arwen.
Anyways, thought someone might be interested!

Isnt't that incest (or what else marrying between relatives is called)?
Isn't about 50 generations too close?

lol Yeah right.. about 50 generations is waaay too close (only kidding..)
Well I always found it quite interesting that Aragorn and Arwen were related and if you look at the history of their ancestors, their marriage is kinda like closing a circle to me..

Yeah, I'd always read that Arwen and Aragorn's marriage was closing the circle, or joining up the long separated lines of the half elven, but I'd never understood before!
I don't think that they are too closely related, they probably don't have that much blood that's the same, if you get my meaning.

well yeah. I was just joking with what I said first in my post. They weren't closely related at all in my opinion. There were soooo many generations between Elros and Aragorn whereas Arwen is Elrond's daughter.

My parents are both related to John Greenleaf Whittier, so they're technically kin, but so distantly that it really doesn't matter.
I just like to say I'm related to Legolas Greenleaf.
Those are interesting facts! I must've known them in the back of my mind because I've read the Sil, but I never really thought about it.

That's cool, Nienor.
I've always found those facts to be interesting, and as others here have said--it seems as though they're closing a circle. First it was Beren and Lúthien, then Tuor and Idril, and finally Aragorn and Arwen. Very interesting how they're all somewhat related.

well, in the Sil you've got family trees of the ancestors of Elrond and Elros and I think there's also a family tree of Elros' line. And in the appendix of LotR there are the names of the kings of Arnor and of the chiefs of the Dunedain. So you'd have to combine them all... a lot of work..

Yeah, but not undoable. I think I've done it once or twice before, just to see specifically how they were related.

That statement would be directed at who, Fíriel?
Eä, what I meant, was it was one big mental image. I combined everything in my mind. Of course, if I ever feel the urge to do it again, I'll be sure to do it on paper and then scan it.
