and I did not like all the black magic they put in it either. *shrugs* But that's me, I know most people like that kind of stuff and the harry potter etc... I am sure thats why they put it in there.

My parents (and I) have a problem with black magic or whatever pertains to it in real life, but I think what you sort of have to do with movies is reserve judgment, and make sure you grasp that it's a story and it can't happen. As soon as you do that, it doesn't matter how much magic is in there, you're not going to walk out of the theater and try to blast someone with your newly acquired laser eyesight. Or whatever. Particularly with movies like Pirates, you sort of have to keep in mind that they're fun but not real.

Well, it's for entertainment purposes, really. People like magic things. Just because it's in a movie (or a play or a book), it doesn't mean you have to believe it or shun it. The Iliad and Odyessy has loads of things relating to Greek mythology, but do we shun it because of that? Of course not. It's simply ridiculous that people get really displeased when they are magical elements in fiction. And there hasn't been any evidence that there is actually "black magic" in this world. So honestly I don't see what the fuss is about.

Jax, I know Tia seems a bit weird right now (well...she is weird, but that's beside the point), but trust me when I say that she's not as bad as she seems in DMC. There are hints of voodoo in DMC (which is very real, but we won't go into that), but that isn't really where her power comes from. As Frosty said, if you can read the Iliad or the Odyssey without getting terribly offended, then you should be fine with Tia in AWE. (And that's as much info as you get in this thread, as anything else would definitely be a spoiler  )

Um, Tia does cast bones and "sees" where the FD is, so yeah, that's the nasty kind of magic.
As for magic itself being in anything, I don't mind that. I have seen Eragon, and practically all the books I read have some kind of magic in them, so I have nothing against harmless magic. But when it comes to Voodo, and black magic, like Tia does, then I have a prob with it.
