ive always been a fan of sparta and read plutarch, xenophon and heroditus.
i loved the battle scenes and they kept all the famouse lines the spartans and persians actually siad but then....the spartans would have been outraged by the films anti religion stance.the ephors where a political body , like a senate of elder statesmen.
the persians are unrecognisable.xerexs has become a gauld.the immortals have become zombie ninja turtles and an orc wandered off the set of LOTR and eventually onto the set of 300.
its alot more fun than the 1960s movie.evan though the spartans lost their body armour.

I saw it a week before yesterday. It was Gr8 I admired the 300 spartans at Thermopylae before I saw it, long before,as the very meaning of indomitable spirit and true heroism. Its not as historicaly inaccurate as u say. True the spartans have lost their body armour and there may have been some inaccuracies but I spose that some creative license was added and the views of the director must be held into account when judging it. It was still generally accurate to the histories in many respects such as the time, place of battle, forces at Thermopylae, styles of fighting and end result. I did like the combat but the one thing I didnt like much was Leonidas' scottish accent. A bit far from home isnt it?

will i think he tried his best to cover it up, and it wasnt just him who had the accent. lena (the queen) she actually has a british accent or something like that. and you can hear it in some parts.

I saw it again on sat. I forgot how much i loved the soundtrack. Does anyone else like it?

I knew Spartans had fighting skills and might be true that they are one of finest swords of the world but come on 300 warriors has just died after killing the half of the million and why Persians had such weird kinda soldiers(such as immortals). Lol 3 meter giant was so funny :P

Anyway, the movie was good though it left some questions in my mind

I really wasn't bothered by Leonidas' accent, probably because I love the guy who played him. :P

Owh, the movie finally opened here. I didn't know it was the infamous Frank Miller or that it was basd on his cartoon. It completely changes my view on it... now I might actually wanna go see it!
I'm still not sure I'll appreciate the mindless violence and excessive fighting scenes but if that's what the movie is all about at least it's being honest about it.. still 300 men against.. a million... are they all dying then? :-)

It's called "Returns a King" and is from the part where young Leonidas returns from the wild. :)

I just saw this film yesterday. :o :swoon:

It was probably THE most visually stunning film I have ever seen as well as THE most awesomest film I have ever seen. It was perfect. Absolutely perfect. So much power, beauty, honor, rage and lust. I loved every single second of it. For some reason I thought Leonidas' Scottish accent was perfect for the role but I'm also partial to Gerard Butler so that might have had something to do with it.
I'm gonna have to see this film again and again and again and again... :trampoline:

lol, it was really stunning. And I agree about the visually stunning comment. I was happy that I decided to see that instead of blades of glory( :disgust: )...

Except.. supposedly I think Leonidas should have killed Xerxes (sp?) and not just harmed him. Yeah, I know he did it to show Xerxes he wasn't a god.. but.. still.

Oh, and I loved when Leonidas' wife (I forget her name) killed that vile traitor. :P
