There's a small town in Alberta Canada called Gimli. I've known it for a while, but i always thought it was kind of funny.
The people that settled the town of Gimli were Icelandic settlers that left Iceland in the 17 or 1800s, after a bout of sheep flu, and very large volcanic eruptions on Iceland. They named the place Gimli, which means "Home of the Gods" in Icelandic or Norse. Every year they host the Icelandic games, and do traditional Icelandic sport and dance.
Just though i'd share that.
Oh and there's another little town called Entwhistle. *giggles*

Wow, that's cool. I didn't know that (not that that's surprising). Thanks for posting that tidbit, Dark.

That is really cool! It should be one of those places you need to go before you die.

Really?? That's crazy.. well I kinda feel sorry for his son though. Being named after a land is not really a cool thing.

It can be, depending on the place.
There's a city in New Zealand called Dunedin too, actually.

I suppose it's some kind of Jamaican name. But still, sharing names with a land can't be too fun...

Wow! I'll be sure to visit both Gimli and Entwhistle after I'm all grown up and my career as a novelist is on a roll!!
Also, I think Rohan is kind of a cool name!

Well, it's a pretty common name actually... I have a friend named Rohan. And I think many South Asian lads have that name as well.
Edinburgh in Scotland is also called Dunedin.
