I'm not mad about them, they're a bit too 'no adventure but six meals a day' for me. Like someone said ealier, I dislike them but only a bit. And they always drink too much, which I find disgusting :-D

haha..they drink too much? what about the Dwarves perhaps too? :p

Well, that's just Gimli that we see. :D We see lots of hobbits drinking, though.

May I be the Devil's Advocate and point out that the dwarves have quite bad statistics since a total of 100% of the dwarves in the movies drink... :P

I love the drinking contest in ROTK. Though, I think its annoying when Legolas goes like "Game over" :eyeroll:

hm..I wonder who'd win if Gimli and say...Pippin (one of the hobbits at least) competed against each other in a drinking contest.

I don't think Legolas should have been accounted the winner at that point--after all, he hadn't had as much to drink as Gimli.

I think Gimli would win in a drinking contest against Pippin, though.

I'm sure he would, and I'm not too fond of how much any of the hobbits/dwarves drink :-D That doesn't mean I don't like them though, it's just a quality I would rather they didn't have.

Well, Gimli only drinks in TTT - twice; at the drinking contest and while they are debating in Meduseld so that's gotta speak to the poor dwarf's favour!

We meet the hobbits at Bilbo's party in the beginning, at the Pranching Pony and at the pub when they have returned to the Shire... those are places where people drink.
Well, when this is said, I'd like to repeat what I said in the thread of Hobbiton. I don't think they needed to portray the hobbits with their red noses and red cheeks, running around all filthy chasing the pigs. However cosy and idyllic the Shire looks, I miss an air of civilisation too! :-)

Right. Good point, Eä. Still, at least they didn't really elaborate on the Rangers and how the Hobbit's didn't give them credit for the peace of the Shire in the film. That would have just reminded me of it all and made it that much less enjoyable.

Personally I prefer hobbits to elves. I think that the 'undesirable traits' is what makes them realistic. They seem so kind and friendly and have alot of fun, i'd love to live in the shire! As much as I like the elves, they seem to be to...perfect. Exspecially Glorfindel and Arwen, the way they act and look in general. Legolas is, i think the best elf and not because he's played by Orlando Bloom! He just seems more human compared to the other elves, and more beleivable. He seems to at least in the films have more of a character. How could anyone HATE hobbits!?! :-o

Ah, I love hobbits...they're short (and I like short), eat a lot (and I LOVE eating), and are just peaceful little...people. ^^
