The truth of rumors spread quickly certainly proved this day, as suddenly, the compartment door slid open, and in slipped the head and lank form of a teenager already dressed in his school robes, a gleaming Prefect's badge pinned to the front of said robes.

"What's this about some sort of fight in here?" the young man, one Jacob Smith, asked into the silence, eyes slightly narrowed in suspicion..even calculation.

Layien looked up and said, as Shade didn't even turn his head, "Yes sir, there was a fight...but it's over now."

"'Sir'?" This earned a short sound of amusement, but it was promptly stifled as the realization of a fight hit Jacob.

"And what brought it about, may I ask, and who was involved?"

"My brother was, Shade." Layien said, pointing. "And...Selena Malfoy." She added, trying not to curse the name. "Selena...well, she and my brother where agrueing back and forth, but not about normal things people argue about...and then Selena made a very rude remark about our mother and...Shade lost his temper and shot her with a disarming spell. But then, Selena came back and bound him and then...did Crucio on him for 5 mintues before letting him go...." Layien looked down, shamefaced.

"Crucio? Bloody-" Jacob broke off with several strangled oaths, definitely not what you would expect to hear from a Prefect..but circumstances considered, it was almost understandable.

"I'm going to the teachers with this. An Unforgivable Curse..blimey.."

Shade looked up, trying not to let the blood show. "You don't need too...." He offered, shrugging. "I hit her first..."

Without further comment or preempt, Jacob turned and left the compartment, sliding the door shut behind him..only to have it open about three seconds later, and a slender, red-headed form was framed in the doorway, overshadowed by a taller, dark-haired one.

"It's true, then? There was a fight in here?"

Slipping into the compartment and pushing her glasses farther up on the bridge of her nose, Madison paled slightly at the sight of blood on Shade's face. How she noticed it was another question completely...

"Was it a Slytherin?" Aidan asked shortly, slipping in after his sister, and closing the compartment door with a soft snap. This conversation certainly didn't need to extend to the corridor outside, which was still teeming with students.
