And I don't see Beri's sig at all... where did she post?
Owhhh previous page... threee months ago, guess she doesn't visit here so often! But it does look quite like Buffy! 
Anyway, isn't anyone (re-)reading OotP in celebration and the upcoming movie, I'm still dying (hmm.... well, not literally.. or not at all actually, since I'm not a huge Potter fan!  ) to talk about it!!
Well well, I might as well ask here, since it's the most active Harry Potter thread.
Why is Harry only able to see the Thestrals now? He has seen people dying before - his parents and... umm... ohh, maybe that's it.. but he's seen his mom and dad being killed, even though he was just a baby he was still present. _________________ >>Be the change you wish to see in the world<<

A person is only able to see Threstrals after experiencing the traumatic feeling and emotional impact of witnessing someone's death. When Harry was young, only a year old, he may have witness his mother's own murder but he didn't acknowledge it, he didn't witness it -as- his mother dying because his mind didn't register those kinds of thoughts and meanings yet.

Is that from the book? I just read it and I don't remember it, but after reading the 900 pages over a weekend I might have missed some details!

No, it's not in the book ---- I learned that from various forums and there was one JKR interview about OotP that I think she answered that in a live chat or something.

Wow, I'm finding this rather exciting! This is my first HP movie to monitor/research/obsess over its progress!

Okay at the risk of being like totally eaten by all of the other Harry Potter fans...I just have to ask...is and if so how is Tonks (Nmyphadora...not sure that I am spelling that correctly  ) related to Bellatrix? Let's see I know that Bellatrix and Narcissa are sisters. Narcissa had Draco. Bellatrix had Sirus and Lupin now here is where I get confused... and Tonk's mother (?)...? I'm guessing that she is her daughter because her name was burnt off of the Black family tree by Bellatrix (just as were her sons' names... Sirus and Lupin) because she married a non pureblood. So she must be related to the Blacks some how because of the tree thing...probabley to Bellatrix seeing as how she was a core part (as far as I could near the leader) of the Black family...so is she her daughter making Tonks Bellatrix's granddaugter. If that were so though that would make like Lupin Tonk's uncle which really does not sound right to me.  Is that right...oy leave to me...I can keep up with my own family tree which is near as complicated as a Hobbit's family tree but turn me loose with the Harry Potter family trees and it all gets messed up in my head...Sorry. Okay before I come up with any other crazy ideas or confuse anyone else beyond the point of no return...let me just put it simple...can somebody please explain to me how Tonks and Bellatrix are related, if at all? It's Regulas Black who's Sirius' brother not Lupin. I don't think Lupin's on the tree at all which is good for Tonks
The tree goes some thing like this:

Regulus Narcissa
Andromada
Then Narcissa married Lucius and had Draco and Andromada married Ted tonks and had Tonks.

Fwee! The two new trailers are fabulous! Bellatrix looks positively wicked and everything else is just so psycotic and emotional. What's up with Voldie in a suit though? Did anyone else find this slightly disturbing?

Elanor, Oh thank you! Thank you! That makes much more sense now! I was so utterly confused before. Lupin just really threw me. I guess I thought that he was Sirus's brother because his other name starts with an R...(laughs)...yeah...I am easliy confused. I am pretty sure that I get it now though. So thank you!
Larael, I haven't seen the new trailers yet but the thought of Voldemort in a suit...yes Very disturbing indeed. (nods) I agree also that Bellatrix loks one hundred percent wicked, pyscotic, and emotional. I really think that she will make the perfect Bellatrix. She just totally rocks!

Remus/Tonks rocks my socks off.
Now, is it canon that Ted Tonks is a squib or is he just muggle-born?
I saw one of the trailers, and the moment where Harry spots Voldemort in a suit REALLY threw me, still not sure if that's real or an hallucination due to their connection. I really do not want it to be real, because if Voldemort's standing out there at a train station with hundreds of people around him, even with the snazzy suit, PEOPLE ARE GOING TO NOTICE and PEOPLE WILL FREAK OUT.

anyways i saw the trailer and i thought it looked awsome. still i am a litte sad that all of them cut thier hair off and now its short, don't think they are cute with short hair

Well, yeah, that's a possibility --- as I listed it could be a hallucinate due to their connection, but Voldemort sure as heck is not that good and it would DEFINITELY be WAAAYYYY off the books if he somehow had the power to make Harry see him. BLARGH.
