(I can see them wanting us to go to Saruman if they were really evil.. but there would at least have to be a story or reason behind it.)

(I was thinking that since they were captured to be slaves.. then they should probably stay in Gondor in order for the guards to keep watch.)

(They could be sold as slaves in the beginning and then all of the slaves could be rallied up when they all have to fight.)

(Just because they are captured as slaves does not mean they have been sold yet. Some could be sold to Saruman, if you still want to incorporate him in this.)

[Well... Here's what I've been working on... This okay Will? Sorry... You didnt reply to the PM so I just assumed XD]

The blackness slowly lifted from her mind. Eyes opened cautiously and blinked against the glare of the blazing sun overhead. She was lying on the floor of an iron cage drawn by horses along a dusty road, traveling in a caravan of other cages, carts and tented wagons. And her hands were shackled behind him, the chains looped through rings set into the iron bars high above. The prisoner slowly sat up and looked about her in confusion. There were other men and women in the cage with her, watching her with the eyes of humans bereft of hope. She couldn’t remember what had happened. She and Miriel were…. Miriel! Where was Miriel? She looked around herself frantically and saw her friend lying on her side, a dirty rag around her head.

‘Miriel! Miriel! Can you hear me?’ cried Rhavaniel. The Elf tried to edge closer to the woman but the chains brought her up short. ‘Miriel!’
The woman moaned and finally opened her eyes. She tried to move her arms and when she discovered she could not, she cast her eyes around confused.
‘Miriel, are you all right?’ asked the slender Elf. Miriel turned her head towards the Archer.
‘Rhan? What's happened? Where are we? Ah! My head aches!’
‘You are injured but I know not the extent. As to your other questions I do not know.’

Miriel shook her head and immediately regretted her actions. A pounding ache settled behind her eyes and she was a moment in regaining her senses. She looked up at her Elven friend. The bright green eyes usually so bright were dimmed with pain for the Elf was also hurt, blood still seeping through an angry looking wound on her temple, the glory of her long black hair dulled by blood and dirt.

‘You would do well not to aggravate your injury Miriel. Lay still. We must await an opportunity to escape.’ stated Rhavaniel. The wood-elf tried to examine her own bindings but she could not move her arms far enough to the side, she struggled briefly grimacing in frustration. She left off trying and took a deep, centering breath to calm herself before glancing back at Miriel.

‘Perhaps you should take your own advice my friend.’ chided the woman. ‘Your head wound looks serious.’

‘It is not. But you are right, I will desist.’ Rhan’s answering smile brought a glimmer of hope to both of them.

Slowly a memory surfaced in the Elf’s mind, eyebrows knitting together in concentration.

‘Mir'... I remember now. We were attacked by mounted troops along the Harad Road!’

‘Ah. Yes, you are right. We…we were riding hard to warn Aragorn of strange invaders from the east! We were overcome. Did any of the others escape I wonder?’

‘I do not know.’ replied Rhavaniel.

The friends stopping speaking when the cage jolted to a stop along with the entire caravan in front of a walled city. Strangely clad men ran past them and spoke in an unknown tongue to the gate wardens. The huge doors swung inward and the caravan lurched ahead through the opening and into the city.

Miriel and Rhavaniel gaped in astonishment when their eyes beheld the multitudes of people swarming through the streets. They stared at the immense carved statues lining the road, the buildings of marble and stone
and in the distance an enormous structure dominating the center of the city. It appeared to be their destination and the caravan eventually passed through one of the many gates surrounding the building.

Armed men threw open the doors to their cage, the chains were withdrawn from the rings and the prisoners were then shackled together. They were herded within a small outbuilding where a tired looking overseer appraised them all with a jaded eye. He began speaking but the words were foreign. The other prisoners appeared to blanch and some began to weep. One by one the men made some kind of answer until the overseer came to Rhavaniel and Miriel.

{Are you looking for a beating? Why do you not answer?} growled the
overseer.

The Elf and the Daughter of the Dunedain looked at each other and then Miriel shook her head at the overseer.

‘We cannot understand your speech. It is unknown to us.’ replied Rhavaniel
shaking her head again.

The overseer grunted and dismissed them with a wave of his hand. The guards herded the prisoners into a large iron barred cell. As the prisoners settled themselves on the dusty ground, Miriel and Rhan walked about and surveyed their surroundings. The friends earned baleful stares from their neighbors when they ventured beyond the limits imposed by the
chains linking the prisoners together.

‘Well, what now,’ Miriel asked shaking her chains, ‘What of these? Can you break them Rhavaniel?’ She knew that the slender form of the Elf belied the hidden power of her limbs. But she shook her head sadly.

‘Alas Mir.. I regret that I have not the strength. I can do nothing at the moment.’

Miriel slumped gracelessly onto the ground but she remained standing, her arms at her side, the emerald eyes watching the comings and goings of the guards, alert as always. Presently two guards arrived with a cart containing a large vat and stacks of bowls. The prisoners stood and shuffled past the slot in the iron door taking the proffered bowls of porridge.

Miriel sniffed the brown stuff and grimaced while Rhavaniel simply held hers. The other prisoners fell to eating noisily and the friends exchanged resigned glances and began to eat as well.

At least we will not hunger thought the human. But the elf watched her fellow prisoners closely, some were soldiers, but many were plainly simple folk, no threat to anyone. Why had these men been taken prisoner? The archer felt a vague unease growing in her mind.

The overseer returned in the early evening and addressed the group. Guards entered the cell and began to sort the prisoners using some unknown criteria. Miriel was placed with the other soldiers but when one of the guards smirked and reached out to grab Rhavaniel’s hair, the Elf instinctively brought her own arm up to block the guard’s. The man
became angry and attempted to strike her only to be knocked to the floor. The other guards rushed over and threatened the Elf with their weapons but the overseer stepped in before any trouble could be caused.

The guards shoved her over to join Miriel. The friends exchanged troubled glances and then the group was sent to another building. As they entered they could see doorways opening onto several yards where men at arms were practicing with wooden swords. Eventually it became clear that they were to participate as well although Miriel could not see how they could be expected to fight on the side of the enemy. Rhavaniel kept her thoughts to herself, the unease growing.

[Puh... More than I thought... And ps... I wont be here from Wednesday till Friday evening ^^ School trip...]

(( Wow, Rhan posted a whole new start, so it seems to me. She asked me to keep the story running, it would be ashame if it died :P Yes, I think we are with the Haradrim. .and I think everyone can just step in where you like :) ))

The Elf and Human were brought to a small room, together with the other prisoners who were chosen. They were with many and it seemed just to fit in the small chamber where only a few blankets pretended to be beds. The guards pointed to the blankets and growled something in their language but it was clear that the prisoners were expected to sleep.
When finally the door was shut again, Miriel and Rhan walked over to the two blankets at the very end of the room, beneath a small window, which was to high for them to look outside.

Miriel sat with her back against the wall and looked at her friend who sat down as well on her blanket. "Do- do they expect us to fight?" Miriel asked her friend hesitantly though she knew the Elf wouldn't know the answer. Rhavaniel remained silent for a moment, like she used to do, but then replied "Even if they do, I will not.."

The door of the room was unlocked again and a single guard entered. He pointed to Rhan and Miriel but also to some other of the prisoners who weren't silent. Though he didn't speak his motion's were clear:
Be silent, or else... Then he left, leaving the prisoners in a tensed silence.

Ruth Ann had immediately set out in her corner of the cell. She didn't like this at all, but, most of all, she was annoyed. She was annoyed at the guards, annoyed at the situation, annoying at life as it seemed. She was only going to visit Aragorn. She was just a simple traveller, nothing more, nothing less. Now, all can she what that had gotten her into. Although, at least, Aragorn knew she was coming. He should be expecting her in a few days.
