Katherine slowly stood up from the couch and ran her fingers through her hair. She had to stop crying, if she were going to be in front of Lucy and Edward. She wiped her tears away and then walked into the bedroom, standing beside Timothy. She sighed deeply and folded her arms a bit. "What happened in here?" She asked, softly.

"Lucy, Katherine! Out of this room! Now!" shouted Timothy with an angry voice which made Edward's eyes widen to the size of walnuts.

"Mom, it was an accident!" Lucy said with her hands out in front of her body, trying to explain what had happened. Unfortunately, her father interrupted her explanation with a shout.
Lucy looked to her mother in fear and confusion, "Mom?"

Katherine looked over Timothy, with a raised eyebrow. "Lucy, you stay in here with Edward. Timothy... I want to talk to you in our room, NOW." She stared at him and then pointed over to the room that they shared. She was now very upset with the way Timothy was acting and she wasn't going to put up with it anymore.

Timothy laughed at his wife. "You're pathetic. Get out right now."
Edward blinked and sat up. "They have to leave?" spoke up a small voice.
"SHUTUP!" Timothy barked in Edward's face.

Lucy felt something happening within her gut.....that same feeling she got when she younger....when her father drank......the beatings......her mother's abuse........
Her eyes began to water as he father shouted at Edward loudly. She stood next to Edward and gently clung onto his new hand. "Daddy, stop it. Stop it," she begged.

Timothy threw his beer can down to the floor and grabbed Lucy by the arm and pushed her and Katherine out the doorway, before he shut it on their faces.

Lucy cowered as she was grabbed by the arm. Cringing, she awaited the slap that would come across her face, but it never came. The next thing she knew, she was outside of her bedroom with her mother by her side.
Standing there aimlessly for a few moments, Lucy then began turn the doorknob in order to get back in. She knew that with a druken father, an innocent victim inside, and a locked door....Edward was in trouble.
Hitting the door with the palm of her hand, she yelled, "Daddy, no! Let me in! Daddy!"

Katherine was beyond angry at this point with Timothy. "Timothy, if you don't open this door right now... I'm calling the police!" She yelled at him and kicked the door hard with her foot. "You leave Edward alone!" She screamed and then looked around the house a bit. She ran into the living room and then tried searching for her vacuum cleaner.

The door didn't budge, nor did Timothy care of what Katherine threatened. She was weak, always weak, and he knew she would never turn him in...

(Vacuum cleaner, Amara? HA HA! Ok...I guess I'll see what it's for then.)
Lucy remained by the door and continued to plead with her father, "Daddy! Please open the door! Please! Don't hurt him! It was an accident! DADDY! OPEN THE DOOR!"
Her screams and shouts soon became louder and louder. She banged on the door with her fists and then began to kick it.

[lol! Well, vacuums used to be a lot heavier back then...]
Once Katherine found the vacuum, she walked back toward the door. She knew that it was really heavy, so she tried her hardest to hold it up. She then threw it angrily at the door. It only made a slightly hole in the door. She groaned and then pushed it aside. She had to think of something else.

Minutes later, Timothy emerged out of the bedroom, shutting the door loudly behind himself, he stumbled out. Mummbling curse words and shaking out his fist.
"Get out of my way!" he said, pushing down Lucy.
He disappeared into the garage, and drove away from his home, drunk and angry.

Falling on her bottom and hitting her head against the hallway wall, Lucy watched in fear as her father disappeared into the garage.
Sitting there for a few more moments to catch her breath, she blinked back the tears and slowly looked up to the doorknob that hung before her.
Standing, she rubbed the back of her head and then turned the door knob. Afraid of what she may find.....memories flooded her mind...but she pushed them away....she needed to check on Edward.
Like in slow motion, she opened the door, and asked questionably, "Edward? Are you ok? Edward?"

Katherine gasped, when Timothy had pushed Lucy. She bit her lip and then followed closely behind her daughter. She rested her hand on the small of Lucy's back and waited for her to go inside her room to check on Edward. She swallowed hard, feeling a lump form in the back of her throat. She hoped that he was alright.
