The world has definitely changed since I was a kid. I want to go back to that happy, carefree decade that was the 1980's and stay there, back when the world actually made sense!

Well, when I was a kid I always wanted to become a vet living on a horse farm with many horses and a little family...Just a completely carefree life.
At that time I didn't care about problems and everything was just so happy. I agree with Eru that I sometimes wish to go back in time as well...
I think as an adult you worry about too many things at a time and don't possess the gift of a child just to live each day as it comes and to enjoy it without questioning anymore....

i can't remember ever being in a "happy carefree state" when things made sense. i've always worried and overcomplicated things, so my life's no more difficult now than it was when i was a child. if anything, it's easier now because i'm finally learning to deal with my neuroses.

I just signed my work contract for next year! That feels good to have it signed and out of my way now. I hate contract time, 'cause you never know what exactly they'll be offering--just hopefully it'll be better than last year, which it is.

Thanks! The kids all finished last Friday, so this week I've been so busy getting the room cleaned. So far this week I've been boxing books and curricula, reviewing some of it, taking inventory, scrubbing windows, desks, cabinets...tomorrow the walls have got to be washed. Only 4 more workdays and then a 7 week break.

So how's life going for all the rest of y'all?

i had my last exam on tuesday, so i've now officially survived my first year at uni. 'tis a strange feeling.

i've also just applied for a schools volunteering programme, so next year i should be working as a classroom assistant for one half day a week. i can even get training in how to work with kids for whom english is a second language. once i leave uni, i want to train as a teacher, so this will be great experience for me. i'm very excited about it all.

Well, all my exams are done right now. I have to wait until next Wednesday for the results and then I'm hopefully finished with school if there's no necessity for further oral exams...
It's somehow a strange feeling as well to be at the end of 13 school years now...

Aww, thanks! I hope so as well. And yes, I completely agree. Waiting is really the hardest thing, especially as my first exams already took place at the end of March and I still haven't good an idea of the results. Teachers can be really, really cruel when they keep waiting you for so long...

And I'll definitely have a look at the thread. Perhaps I'll join if I've got some free time then...

Summertime is absolutely, positively, undeniably amazing, isn’t it!?! I mean, here I am, a grown adult with a job. Here it is, summer. Usually the two don't jive well.
As a child, and in school, what do you wish for? Summer vacation. As an adult in the workforce, what do you get? A week off, maybe two. Hardly the recipe for summer fun.
But, I get 7 weeks off in the summer (can't count week 8 as that's summer training) in all, so still get summer break.

Last night I was talking with my friend Sean. He asked me, "You know, my aunt's a teacher but I STILL can't figure out what teacher's do in the summer!"

So here's what I'm up to.

Reading. Lots of reading. All that reading that I wanted to do and had to spend time grading and stuff instead. Right now I'm reading a history book, "Don Quixote", and a book called "Charity and Its Fruits" besides brushing up on my logical skills.

Needlework. Hurrah for needlework! I"m working on a needlepoint picture for my "Grandmarose" (obviously the pic has a rose in it too!) who is, to say the least, not doing so well.

Housework. Hurrah for housework, huh, and more hours to spend on it.

Baking. Come on, who ever grows past play-dough, especially when it's edible and bakes up with delicious smells? I love kneading bread-dough!

Painting! In fact, in just two hours I'm going out to Lowes with my friend Katie (I've got a friend and a dog named Katie ) to look for paint for my room. Something to go with my bedspread/drapes. She suggested green yesterday, and I absolutely love green, but I'm thinking something a bit more neutral, since my room's so bright and bold.

Then, in a few weeks, I'm off to the family cabin where I'll include hiking, boating, exploring, and hopefully fishing to my list of activities, while probably striking off baking from the list.

lol sounds like teachers got it nice when it comes to summers. lol I have to admit I had never even considered the fact that al summer teachers would not have anything to do...... Weird huh?


Speaking of being 18.... one downside. You have to sign papers.
I went to the doctor the other day for an ear infection. I had to sign all srots of stuff.... for an ear infection! They wanted to know practically my entire past medicall history... they even wanted to know my relegion and if I was single.... FOR AN EAR INFECTION!!! I am sitting here looking at my mom and asking... "DO I really have to answer all this stuff? Can't I just scrible it out or something?" *sighs*

I wish my praents could still do all that stuff for me. lol.... ok I am done now. *breaths deeply*

@Ivreniel: I agree. Summertime is always great, especially when you have much free time. I read really much during my summer breaks, as I don't have that much time for it otherwise and as I really LOVE reading.

@Jax: *sighs* The responsibilty that goes with becoming an adult. Here it's not that bad if you visit a doctor, but I can understand what you mean.
