"As do I." Aranthor stated. She looked around. "We need everyone, we can not do this with just a few, we do not have enough power."

"But that doesn't mean we need to give up hope." Hythraii added, a flash of lightning also coming with his comment.

" No, it doesn't." Aranthor said trying to convince others to join.

Sorry, I fell behind (just got back on a little while ago). I also made a slight change to my profile as I need to hurry up and catch up with all of you.
Curunìr wrote:
Nolgos listened to her words in shock and confusion, for a mortal who knew of the gods this all was shocking. So one betrayed the others for power? It seemed that not even the gods were as dedicated to their cause as he had thought or loyal to each others. The last words she said to him were not enough, he wasn`t just going to sit and wait as chaos might ensue. He wanted to take part, do something to prevent it, call it devotion to protect the weak and the innocent.

"Wait, you can`t just say that to me and leave! Go back to your village and tend to your patients? Is that your advice? Do you think I can only do that? I can do much more, I might be a mere human, but there must be something I can do to aid you. Just tell me and I will do it."

Nolgos demanded with a slightly angered voice, not caring whether she was a goddess or not. He was now convinced of it all, the appearance of the bandits, all the bloodshed and misery increasing, this was all due to what happened with the gods. He might be old and frail, but not clueless or weak.

Estelle nodded. "You possess great courage mortal. I respect that." She then turned to look in the direction of their home once more. "I now give you two choices, Nolgos. Choose wisely. Return to your village. Gather your best men and train them for battle. I shall then return to you anon. The second option I now grant you is to come with me. I shall take you to Aranthor the Goddess of War. Yet know this, should you come with me, there is a chance you may never return to your home. The gift to enter the earthly home of the gods has never been granted to a mortal."

"I think we all know what it is that we must do," Eydis said forcefully, "Of course we must rid the world of Asmundr's evil and in so doing, restore our former glory." She gestured elaborately as if to show how mighty they would be once again, but then she suddenly let the hand drop and gave all the other dieties a level look. "But how?"

That was the important question. Yes, there were ten of them and only one of Asmundr. Yes, they were all formidable in their areas. But could they defeat Asmundr. She feared that they had know idea of just how powerful the old god really was. They needed to find out.

"Blast where are Estelle and Gerard?!" she exclaimed suddenly as she slammed her palm down on the wooden table. All of them needed to be together.

---

(*Bella Swan* is my cousin in RL, and she has told me that she is grounded. I'm not sure when she'll be able to get online, so she has given me permission to powerplay Gerard)

Just then, the very god Eydis had been speaking of sauntered into the room. "Did someone say my name?" he asked wryly. His eyes flicked to Eydis, and he saw the dark scowl etched onto her features. She was glaring daggers right at him.

"Forgive me, O Great Goddess of Nature," he said with an exaggerated bow, "You called?" Eydis opened her mouth angrily, and Gerard suspected that he was about to get a tongue lashing, so he quickly threw up his hands and murmured that he was kidding.

He took his seat at the table, and almost instantly his mood changed from relaxed to solemn. When he first entered one might have never guessed that he was the God of Wisdom, but now his eyes were filled with knowing and intelligence. "Asmundr is on the move again, but I am sure you all know this."

---

This was good. Very good. Wavryni was in chaos. Pure chaos. And it was all because of him.

Asmundr was more than pleased with himself. He sat in a large velvet backed red chair at the front of a long room. A table also sat in the room, surrounded by ten chairs. But those chairs were empty now. That thought caused a smile to appear on Asmundr's thin lips.

The other dieties were gone, banished to live among the mortals of Wavryni. When he first banished them, he hadn't been able to strip them of all their powers, but he was slowly working on it. Using his dark magic and the abilities he had learned over the centuries, he was tapping into each of the other dieties' specific fields.

Once he had control over all the sources and power of Wavryni, he would be unstoppable. Already, easily corrupted mortals were flocking to him, hoping to earn favors and a high place when he finally ruled over all of the land. He barked a cruel laugh. There could be no other high positions when he ruled. He would be the one and only ruler.

Asmundr slowly swiped the area in front of him with his hand. The air slowly rippled and then became dark. Suddenly, he was viewing the 'meeting room' in the new dieties' shelter. All of them but Estelle were sitting there, bickering among themselves, searching for answers. He laughed again. They could know nothing. And they wouldn't anytime soon. Never, if all went as he planned. Before they could do anything about it, they would be bereft of all their former powers.

And he would have them all.

Hythraii could not answer Eydis' question. He simply shook his head and didn't say anything, leaning against the wall, deep in thought.

Aranthor looked from one God/Goddess to another, trying to read their expresions. She said to no one in particular, "Are we going to let Wavryni fall into evil hands, will we let our people suffer at the hands of Asmundr? If that is what you choose to do so be it...then we have failed our people."

Nolgos grinned widely as he heard the paths that he could walk, true it had been his intention to train the local militia to exterminate the bandit threat, but what she now offered was beyond his comprehension. To enter the home of the gods? Nolgos gazed back at the village, not returning would seem like he didn`t care, but he was curious than ever about the gods now that this situation had opened up. He quietly hoped to himself that he could meet the gods and then return to his village where so few had any faith in the gods.

"I will come with you, but at all means you must try to let me go after this. I couldn`t bring any harm to you and the local people need me.... "

Nolgos said quietly and stepped forward ready to follow, he hoped that his choice wasn`t seen as the wrong one.

Estelle nodded. "So be it Nolgos. Come, each second we tarry here is precious time lost for both our people." She glanced at the woods once more, knowing that she would have to teleport them there if they were to arrive with all due speed. "Time is of the essence. This time we shall not travel by road." Focusing her energy she created a portal of light to surround them. "Shut your eyes mortal. The light shall blind you." In what seemed like less than a second they were between worlds-traveling through time and space in a brilliant light. When the light faded they stood at home of the gods. Estelle quickly walked to their abode where the rest of the gods and goddesses were seated. "Pardon my absence." she said in way of greeting. "But I met someone I feel you should meet. An ally in our fight against Asmundr. This is Nolgos, both a mortal sage and healer, as well as a warrior of old. " With that she motioned for Nolgos to step forward. "True, mortals and immortals have never mixed. But Asmundr is beyond all of us. Perhaps it is time for both god and human to join together against our common enemy before he destroys us all."

The light of the portal burned Nolgos`s eyes and he gladly followed Estelle`s instructions by closing his eyes before stepping to the other side. What awaited on the other side didn`t make him feel any comfortable than he was, a number of eye pairs turned towards him and he felt as, if they could all see right trough him. Nolgos grinned slightly, but was soon bombarded with a question that confused him. Did he not listen to Estelle at all?. He could have guessed who they all were by their mere appearance, but turned to Devarion and it was quite obvious who he was for the dark clothes were a give away. Of course Azra might have fit the picture, but Nolgos had seen him before.

"As she pointed out, my name is Nolgos and truth be told besides the things she said I was once a loyal worshiper of some gods, some of you. Yet times and manners change I guess as people begin to lose faith."

Truth was that Nolgos had no actual reason to be there all tough the thought of saying few well chosen words to the gods did cross his mind, but he had a second thought. He gazed the glaive quietly, wondering what kind of damage the god`s weapon could cause as it was certain that it would not simply cut. Nolgos gazed at the rest of them as Devarion walked out of the room.

"I believe I am here to aid you in some manner? The way I see it, now that you all have been betrayed by Asmudr, you aren`t strong enough to defeat him because otherwise you would have probably punished him already."

Nolgos asked with his eyebrow raised.

"Oh by all the Powers Estelle why did you bring him?" cried Azra stareing at Noglos, forgetting to use his sarcastic title of Goddess for her, as he did all the woman in the room. "Have you got any idia who he is? He's the most insubordiat backchatting mortal that i'v ever come acrose."

He threw up is hands. "Fine, but i'l only say this to the great 'plan', we must be very careful not to grow more powerful than we were before, then the Balance will be upset again, i'm sure Gerard agrees with me on that?" he asked

Secretly though, whatever his outward dispaly, he was secretly pleased. He liked the human and was glad he was with them.

"Oh, the man used to worship some of us," Eydis mumbled sullenly after she had gotten over her astonishment and indignation at seeing a mortal in their meeting room. "I'm not going to ask which 'some' those were."

Then she turned and spoke directly to Noglos. "As for your question, sir, I hate to have to admit that you are correct in that assumption. We are not strong enough to overthrow Asmundr. Yet." That fact rankled her to the point of madness. She hated being weak. "Though soon that will change." Hopefully, she added in her mind.

Eydis wasn't sure what she thought about bringing a mortal directly into all of this. Of course, the dieties needed to have the mortals on their side, but to actually bring one into their meeting hall and chat with him? She just didn't really know what to think. She eyed Noglos scrutinizingly, trying to sum him up. Maybe things would work out for the best, and he could help them.

---

Gerard wasn't upset by Noglos's appearance. Surprised but not upset. No, on the contrary he was quite pleased. He sensed something about the man, a certain aura, and he knew that Noglos would be willing to help them in the future. He wasn't sure as to what extent, but he knew some help was better than none.

Hearing his name, he returned from his reflections. Gerard pondered Azra's question. "Yes," he said after a brief pause, "That is correct. By banishing us and taking all the control for himself, Asmundr has thrown balance out of alignment. If we were to rise up and become more powerful than we were to begin with, then although we would overthrow Asmundr, we would be doing nothing to restore the balance. Quite the opposite actually."

Balance was a fragile thing. It was what Wavryni circled around and functioned on. And the absence of balance was now the cause of this utter chaos. It would not be easy to regain. If the balance was off just a fraction then things might appear to get better but truly the problems would still be there only to arise again one day. Everything had to be perfectly in place.

Kena stared down at her compass, watching the needle spin. Where it should point unfailingly north it wavered, uncertain, and went from point to point without stopping. As she watched it suddenly froze in one direction, quivering slightly as if it were an effort to remain there, and Kena looked up.

The wind flung the door of meeting hall wide open and through it were charcoal black thunderclouds flashing with lightning. More than there had been before, and now the clouds were roiling as if stirred by some unearthly being - but Asmundr was unearthly. Kena looked down at the compass once more, at the needle trembling as it pointed toward the clouds pulsing with eerie energy, and snapped it shut. "We need to do something - now."

Hythraii looked at the clouds and his hands started to shake. "These clouds are not natural..." He said uneasy. "There is dark magic in those clouds...."

Estelle sighed at the commotion she caused that she knew would undoubtedly happen. She knew the other gods would be wroth with her for bringing him here, but there was an aura to this mortal that was unlike others. She then turned to Noglos. "You are a leader in your village. Tell us, how many strong do you think you can muster against Asmundr? An evil wind speaks of more of your kind joining his ranks by the day. If we are to stop him, we will need your help. We will need more men." She then turned her gaze to the dark clouds. Her hand instinctivly drifted back to reach her sword. Evil is here. she thought to herself, as she eyed the impending storm with unease.
