"But you didn't," Eccelsat said. "She did. Given, the vampire did break the truce but seeing as he is dead and all we have to go by are your and Jayden's word, the family will want the maximum punishment for her: death." Noting the elf's shocked face, he nodded and said, "Yes, we can die. And I'm afraid we'll have to try you as well. There must be some small little rule in the Truce that says intention to kill is just as bad as killing. Ironic. Your side wanted that in. Purity of heart and the load of rubbish that went with it. And I'll have to judge over it. Jury consist of three angels, three fallen angels, three elves, and three vampires. Balances things rather nicely. Normally Jayden also judges over these things but since she's on trial, she can't."
Just then the room door opened to reveal three vampires, the father of the murdered vampire and his bodyguards. "Greetings, Garhsi," Eccelsat immediately said. "My sympathies..."
"I don't need them," Garhsi said dismissively. "What I need and want is my son's body and the head of the angel that killed him, her." He pointed at Jayden who was slowly recovering from her wound.
Eccelsat immediately stiffened and said, "Dalanis attacked her, Garhsi. She killed him in self-defense. Because of that, we can only inflict a minor punishment on her."
"She killed my son!"
"I know that, Garhsi. But the Truce was made so a bloodbath could be deterred. I'm not going to be the first one to break it."
"You're not. She did. Now kill her. You're no longer bound to the truce..or are you afraid of killing her. I have heard about your little business when you were with her."
Eccelsat's features went cold and said, "That's completely irrelevant. Your son's body has already been taken care of and there is nothing I can do before she recovers. Now I suggest you to leave now or I'll have you expelled from the Order."
The Order was an organization of vampires that possessed a fair amount of influence in the fallen angel hierarchy. Eccelsat got some satisfaction from watching Garhsi leave in a very sullen mood.

Jayden slowly started opening her eyes, her vision was blurred slightly but she could hear voices. Someone was yelling and in turn a different voice answered. Still she couldn't make out who was speaking, then as suddenly as the sound came it was once again quiet. She kept blinking her eyes trying to get her full vision back.

Jayden felt a horriable pain shoot though her body and she almost cried out. She flung her hand to the spot but before she could touch her skin someone stoped her. When her vision cleared she saw that it was Esccelsat who's hand was on her wrist. Looking around the room quickly she noticed she was in a room. One of Essclsat's angels were next to him and she couldn't see but she knew another was in the room.

"Why am I here" she asked in a hushed voice.

She closed her eyes and tried to make the pain go away. Though she couldn't she made her mind think of other things to drown it out. Jayden opend her pale blue eyes and tried to sit up. She felt dizzy and only made it about half way and fell back down onto the bed. Her wings were hurting her as she laid on them. Quickly she mumbled something and they sunk down into her back, leaving only two lines where they once were. Now Jayden looked almost human if her skin didn't glow slightly. Jayden's mind was still a little fuzzy as she tried to remember what had happened.

"I thank you for your concern Eccelsat but I will be fine" Jayden spoke very quietly.

Once again she tried to sit up and she made it this time. However, once seated on the edge of the bed and began to fall forward toward the floor.

Eccelsat lunged to stop her fall and slowly brought her back to the bed.
"Well I wouldn't want you to die, now would I?" Eccelsat gently whispered back. "As much as I wanted you dead, I couldn't have left you in the park or in the hands of Garhsi." He paused for a moment and then said, "I'm afraid we are going to have to try you. You and your elven friend here. You're both charged with breaking the Truce. I know that the vampire attacked you first and I think so as well but Garhsi thinks it's a story you just made up. You'll have to stand trial otherwise we will have to declare you two fugitives."

Jayden felt herself starting to fall but hands grabbed her before her face hit the floor. She knew it to be Eccelsat, he laid her back down and then continued to speak to her. Jayden opened her eyes again, they were clearer now. She listened intently as he spoke of wanting her dead and the trial she must go to.

"Well the elf you speak of did nothing wrong. As for me, well, even angels make mistakes. I should have just flown off, after all, vampires can't fly" she replied in a weak voice.

Jayden sighed, she knew right well what a trial ment and what would happen if she were voted guilty. She knew she couldn't run, who then would watch over the few light angels that were left. The dark angels would be even more powerfull with her gone. These vampires were trouble, she never wanted them around anyway, but Accelsat had said he would keep them in line. One had gone against the rules, against Accelsat himself, yet she would be the one punished for it.

"This Elf..."Hythraii said sourly, noting that no one had used his name and ignoring the fact that he hadn't given it out to them yet, "will go on trial if need be, or if you need a witness, if you get them, I can do that as well."

"Well," Eccelsat said abruptly. "I have to go. But one last thing. In the name of the city of Lithian, I'm placing the head angel, Jayden, and the elf, Hythraii, under arrest for murder, intention to murder, and breaking the Truce. This room is your prison. All communication must go through my guards. My guards will be your jailers. Your trial will be scheduled. Good day."

He climbed out of the window and flew off to the abandoned theatre that was their home. His captains were waiting eagerly for him.
"Is it true, sir?" one of them asked. "Jayden is to be tried."
"Yes," Eccelsat replied. "Though I think the jury will be for her favour. She only acted in self-defense."
"But she killed a vampire," one of the vampire captains argued. "She broke the Truce."
"So did Dalanis," Eccelsat retorted. "He attacked her first. At least that's the story."
"And you believe it?" asked another fallen angel.
After a moment of hesitation, he said, "Yes. She's bound to honesty. Even though we are on opposite sides, I have no reason why to doubt her. This decision is for the jury to decide. Whether or not, Jayden committed murder or acted in self-defense remains to be seen. Right now we must get back to our strategies."
There were some muttering before Eccelsat silenced them.

Hythraii shook his head. "I awake up this morning and then I get arrested in the middle of the day. What fun."

Jayden turned to the elf and spoke gently.

"I'm sorry that you have to be in the middle of something you wish not to be."

She felt her neck it was almost healed but not quite. Feeling a little stronger she sat up and walked to the window. The dark angels watching her every move like a owl watching a mouse. She looked out at the city and a smile grew on her face. It faded just as quickly as it came, she felt like a pretty white bird trapped in a cage. Then being poked with a stick.

Hythraii looked over at Jayden and bowed. "No, not at all. It is an honor to be locked up in here with you, Lady." He said, half smiling and half smirking.

Eccelsat listened to the various strategies that his captains had suggested. They sounded pretty good but yet they had their flaws. However, it was when a vampire spy informed them of special gifted humans that greatly interested Eccelsat.
"Gifted humans?" he asked.
"Yes, my lord," said the vampire. "My spies and I have heard word that two humans, male and female, were endowed with special powerful skills. Powerful enough to tip the scales."
A small silence followed by chatter went through the group. Eccelsat silenced them.
"Then these humans are our highest priority," declared Eccelsat. "Attempt to influence them to our side and if they resist, make sure no angels get in the way. With Jayden arrested and awaiting trial, we will have some time."

Jayden looked back at the elf, a small smile on her face. She hated being kept in such a small place, it was not what she was use to. She turned back around and leaned against the wall.

"What is your name kind elf" she asked, her sparkling eyes meeting his own.

She had to get out of this room but in order to do so she would have to break her own rules. She knew of these 'Chosen Ones', she knew of their power and how all their fate rested in their hands. If there were turned to evil then all was lost. Her smile faded slightly as she thought of the outcome.

Desastre shrugged, and went into the Inn, coughing slightly at the strong smell of ale. She found a table in a corner, so she could watch very thing that was going on.

Hythraii smiled back.

"My name is Hythraii, Protector of the Leaf, an Elven Warrior of Light and a Whisperer of the Beasts." He sighed. "A long title, but I liked to be called Hythraii or Hyth. And your name, Lady?"

Jayden was slighly taken back that the elf did not know who she was. Purhaps he asked only to be polite. She smiled back at the fair elf and then answered his question.

"Well met, Hyth. My name is Lady Jayden, head angel of the light, protector of man, all knowing, all seeing, holy one, creator of tree and beast. However, you may just call me Lady or Jayden if you wish."

It was indeed a long title and it had more to it but she didn't much feel like talking for forever. What she gave was enough for anyone. She walked over and sat back down on the bed. Crawling up onto the matress and leaned her back against the wall. Folding her legs in front of her much like a child would do. Folding her hands in her lap, looking at the elf.

"So tell me Hyth, do you still have family?"
