yeah, we book lovers all miss the scouring of the shire but i understand why PJ didn't put it in the movie because the scouring of the shire is in its own way a little mini quest that realy doesn't have too much to do with the lord of the rings. so if he did put it in there it might take away a little from the main point. also it might take up another half hour and those impaitient movie fans will think the movies even longer and more drawn out.

And as silly as it seems, all movies can drag on and then it'd be very annoying. Scouring of the Shire would be very anti-climatic and would occur after the plot as been resolved. Scouring of the Shire would be quite pointless when done in the movie =/

yes. i was disapointed, but it would have taken forever if it did have EVERY single thing in the movies.

Just think if they included every little detail of the books into the movies then the movies would be reaaaaaallllllyyyy long. Can you imagine someone sitting through a movie in a cinema for more than four hours. I probably would on certain films but some people wouldnt....

OH!OH!OH! I'd sit through it!! Even if it ended up 20 hours long. I'd just sleep at the cinema if they has intermissions.

wouldnt it be great if each film featured every detail of the books, then they showed them one after the other at cinemas....with 1 hour braks between each film, then short breaks in film, then food times (i love mu food ) immagine, that would last for probably more than a whole day....*heaven*

me too!!! heaven indeed!
Hey, has anyone else here watched all 3 extended editions in a row? It was awesome! That was the best 12 hours ever
oh yeah, and the original debate:
Yeah, I missed it [the scouring] too, but I think PJ did a good job with the one scene he had. And I don't think Grima 'redeemed' himself; we was stupid and mad and wanted to kill the guy who already annoyed him to death and on top of that had just insulted him. It was like 'the last straw', he just couldn't handle Saruman anymore. Not convienent timing, either. Gandalf needed information out of Saruman, so killing him wasn't very helpful. And I'm glad Legolas shot him. Grima was creepy.

Or maybe Legolas tried to stop Wormtongue from stabbing the fillings out of Saruman so that he could be more use to them...[shrug]

i think that Legolas was doing because they wanted to keep Sauromon alive and Grima ruined their changes of getting information that was greatly needed. Or is it possible he missed??
