Hythraii bowed lightly and said, "A pleasure to meet you." He smiled and then said,

"Family?" His face then grew grim. "They were killed long ago....by vampires."

After much debate, they agreed to try her now. Eccelsat volunteered to retrieve Jayden and Hythraii and left with a guard of fallen angels. It wasn't the prisoners that he was scared of. It was the "Light" side soldiers. They've been growing. Vampire spies tell of several human cults that revere Jayden and her angels, all of them ready to kill and die in her name. And none of the dark captains can deny that the elves are gathering strength. Sure they can wave up excuses and stories about the "increasing threat of the dark side" but in truth, they've been planning to "purify" Lithian for years, gathering angels and elves. And it wasn't only the vampires and the fallen angels that had crossed the line. Two weeks after the truce had been signed, one highly important and wealthy vampire and his escort were slaughtered by a band of elves aided by an angel. Jayden's excuse? He was using his money to aid the worst of humanity while Eccelsat had calmly waved five authentic receipts that said the vampire purchased a number of books and scrolls for a recently built library. Eccelsat himself was the target of a couple assassination attempts but Jayden casted a blind eye towards them while Eccelsat personally investigated every single infraction of the truce caused by his own side. Jayden doesn't seem to realise that humans, elves, angels, and vampires aren't just black and white; there are shades of gray in between.

Eccelsat began his walk towards the inn where he had imprisoned his prisoners. On the way, he noticed the universities and the schools and the libraries and the experimental facilities that he and his fallen angels helped build. While Eccelsat told the humans that he refused to be worshiped as a god, he contented with a statue of himself that appeared in all of the scientific and educational buildings. And thus Eccelsat was known among the people as the patron of knowledge.

He remembered how the human race started out when Jayden created them. Weak, helpless, blind. Despite being the protector of man, she had refused to directly intervened and Eccelsat, who took some part in the creation, could only watch as they struggled in the dark elements of the world. Finally Eccelsat's patience had snapped and he did what Jayden and her followers considered the ultimate crime. He revealed himself before a group of humans and brought them two invaluable gifts: fire and intelligence. With those gifts they began to rise as humans. Eccelsat paid dearly for his revelation; he was exiled along with his followers. Jayden then claimed she was the giver of intelligence and gave them a choice whether or not to obey her. That had caused strife between the humans. Jayden's influence appealed to those that loved power and wanted to keep it and those that simply wanted orders to follow. Meanwhile, those that sought knowledge and the truth allied themselves to Eccelsat and used his gift to its fullest. However Eccelsat was soon denounced as the Deceiver and Evil One. Though Jayden didn't openly call him in their meetings, Eccelsat suspected she has some hand in them. The War that only ended with the Truce was brought about when a group of the "Light" humans destroyed the first university that Eccelsat had personally built, killing everyone in it.. Eccelsat with his followers personally killed them all.

Eccelsat's reminiscence about the history of man ended when he arrived at the inn. He entered in the inn, too distracted to notice that the Chosen Ones were in the inn. He went to the room where he kept his prisoners. He unlocked the door and saw them, right where he left them. One of the guard took out two sets of manacles as Eccelsat said, "It is time. You are to be escorted to Lithian Court where you will be tried."

Hythraii looked up, kinda startled. He looked over at Jayden, letting her lead the way.

Two fallen angels clasped Jayden and Hythraii in the manacles, which were attached to a long chain that were attached to the fallen angels. Eccelsat marched them towards the Lithian House of Justice. The humans had made their own laws but Jayden claimed that she gave them to them. Eccelsat led them through a side door so Jayden and Hythraii wouldn't be noticed until the trial began. The accused were led to an elevated boxed area. The jury consisting of three angels, three fallen angels, three elves, and three vampires were located in another elevated box. The respective lawyers from the House of Garhsi and Jayden were also present, though they were on the floor. Eccelsat changed his clothes to the traditional dark robes. The angel to his left was Jayden's second in command and successor, Hariam.

Hythraii glanced around the room, but couldn't bring himself to look back into the hard, cold stares of shock and disbelief in the Elves faces. He simply keep his eyes low and waited to be tried, along with Lady Jayden.

The sound of iron clinking against iron caused Gwydain to look up from his ale. He saw the same group that he had followed to the inn, but this time two of it's members were wearing manacles.
Curiosity drove him, and he followed them to the House of Justice. He frowned as they went through a side door, paused, the followed them. He was able to slip inside the door, but stopped there.

"The Court of Lithian is now in session," Eccelsat declared in a loud voice. "The head angel, Jayden, has been formally charged with murder of a vampire and breaking the truce. These charges has been brought by the House of Garhsi who has asked the permanent exile of Jayden if she confess her crime. If not, they have demanded the execution of Jayden through burning. The elf, Hythraii, has been charged with the intention to murder and breaking the truce. The House of Garhsi has asked for the imprisonment of six months if he confess. If not, they have asked for the imprisonment of two years. We shall start with the charges against Hythraii."
The main prosecutor that represented the House of Garhsi began to ask about Hythraii's past. "Is it true," he said. "That your family were killed by vampires?"

Gwydain's eyes widened as he listened to the man's voice. An Angel and an elf in trouble for a murder? He shook his head and continued to listen.

Hythraii looked up into his eyes.

"It is true,"

"And we assume that you wanted vengeance for their deaths," the main prosecutor said. "Which is why...."

Whatever he was going to say was lost in the crowd of angry yells from the light side. Eccelsat and Hariam silenced the crowd and allowed the angel lawyer to speak. He stood up and said, "I do not think that the elf should be tried for intention to murder as we all have intention to murder but hardly any of us carry them out."

"Well spoken, angel," said Eccelsat. "The simple fact is that we can not prove that Hythraii was at the scene for the deliberate purpose of murdering the vampire, Dalanis. I drop the charges against Hythraii."
Hariam also dropped the charges against him in the same mindset as Eccelsat and Hythraii was taken down from the accused box and back to the crowd.

"The court will now try the head angel, Jayden," declared Hariam as the House of Garshi hissed in outrage and some of the elves clapped.

Jayden stood still, her head still held high. She had no reason to look down, the Vampire had attacked her first. Still she felt bad for killing him, she could have found another way to be ride or the beast. However, what was done was done. She would confess to killing the vampire, but she would not confess to the manner in which these vampires thought. In no way did she break the truce, it was stated that should on member of the other party attack the other party, that it was allowed to take action to protect one's self.

The prosecutor asked Jayden, "Where were you when you killed the vampire?"

Jayden looked up her beautiful eyes looking back at the prosecutor.

"I was in the park, as i always am" Jayden replied calmly.

"In the park," the prosecutor said. "Did the vampire, Dalanis, make any attempt to identify himself before he allegedly assaulted you?"

Hythraii watched Jayden, his eyes locked on her, but sometimes it would glance at the judge. He was glad that his charges were dropped, but he was ready to protest if Jayden's case went haywire or if she called him as a witness, for he really was one.
